[LI1: Beneath the Phanta-Sea] An open letter to those with free time

Casey Neistat once said that ideas are overvalued, and execution is all that matters.

That said, I wanted to present this community with an idea ?

I just played through Zelda: The Missing Link. Kaze and his team's objective of creating an interquel that fit seamlessly between retail games worked really well and was an unforgettable experience, and I started thinking about LI1 and Mindscape's unreleased sequel

You're probably all familiar with the super strange LI1 "ad" that Lorin Tone uploaded in 2018. I rewatched it, and realized that one of the scenes looks familiar

Some of the models and animations seen here, in addition to the pirate models and animation could be a great starting point to rebuild what would have been the far superior LI1 sequel. Assuming that Beneath the Phanta-Sea would have been based on contemporary lego sets, most of the art direction for the game is already done!

I can't help but think of a banjo-tooie style sequel, where the new game picks up right where the old game left off. Maybe in Beneath the Phanta-Sea, we would have finally found out what was behind the door in the mystery cave ?

I titled this post "An open letter to those with free time" because I unfortunately have too many real-world responsibilities on my plate to execute a project like this. (I'll be a married man in October). This community is full of amazing, talented individuals who I'm sure could make something amazing like this idea come to life. If you're a motivated artist or programmer who wants to help make an incredible project happen, shoot me a DM and maybe we can build a team. If enough traction happens on this shot in the dark, I can offer some 3D modeling and project management, but this project will ultimately need to be carried by the community.

Thanks for reading,

S.R.
