What IS the Bits N' Bricks podcast? /:|

Spoiler

For those of you out of the loop, "Bits N' Bricks" is an officially produced online podcast series from The LEGO Group in celebration of the 25th anniversary of LEGO video games (not just one specific game in question, but in celebration of LEGO's entire history of games, dating all the way back to "LEGO Fun to Build" on the Sega Pico, released in December of 1995).

The series is hosted by Brian Crecente and Ethan Vincent, and the series covers the personal stories behind a broad range of events, projects and media from The LEGO Group over the past 25 years: from the development history and impact of specific titles, to The LEGO Group's various partnerships with gaming franchises and other companies (such as Unity), and even some of The LEGO Group's in-house R&D experiments that never saw the light of day (or, in the case of Strategic Project Unit Darwin, experiments that we never heard the full story of until now).

If you're interested in TLG's foray into games, their history and their successes and failures in adapting to the modern age, I highly recommend you take a listen to the series. It is very insightful and, honestly, it's wonderful to hear some of these topics from The LEGO Group's perspective for once (it's nice to know that even folks within TLG have regrets about the company's past actions).

Bits N' Bricks - Season 2

Spoiler

Originally, Bits N' Bricks was intended to be a one-off series, however the success of the podcast has lead The LEGO Group to commission further seasons of the podcast (lasting up till December of this year, rounding up the year-long celebration of the 25th anniversary of LEGO's game history). This means the series has a chance to delve into topics that were left out/never covered, as well as covering topics that were frequently requested by fans.

Admittedly, Season 2 started out with a bit of a lull - for fans of LEGO's Classic gaming endeavours, at the very least - but it's been picking up a bit recently (with the previous episode - at time of writing - discussing the development of LEGO LOCO) and media press regarding the release of season 2 imply that the series may tackle other classic titles from LEGO's game library, so if the next episode seems a bit boring/drab, give it some time... there's bound to be some insightful/fascinating episodes coming down the line!

In continuing with the theme of future preservation etc (even though it is quietly sitting there in the OP already - good job @Ben24x7 for quietly keeping it up to date), I thought it'd be worth mentioning that Rock Raiders got its own entire episode!

Included is an interview with Karl White (that'd be the same dev as in this topic) which didn't unfortunately contain too many extra new insights into development, and an interview with our very own Cirevam (who runs the forum) and Baraklava (developing Manic Miners)! It's very neat stuff for Lego to acknowledge the classic games and this forum to such an extent.
