Voice stuff for Game project

For the first time I am actually making progress on a project I post up about! Anyway, This was made into a blog just so I could put a voice clip inside...

If you have been flicking through my 'Blender Stuff' gallery you may have found this...:

A character for my not-so-going-to-work-out YouTube series which I apparently dumped immediately... Especially since I never (and still haven't) gotten permission from the Office Drones model creator HJMediaStudios. Also I hadn't gotten any plans for this character...

And remember this picture, which was involved in my Game project topic?:

As you can see the exact same character appears here. I only stuck him in there for fun and to show how it would be able to fit a character neatly inside it... But then I had an idea... Why not use him in my game project?

After flicking through many scripts I thought about bringing this character to life, then the first test began.

  • Give the guy a characteristic. e.g. Personality, background story etc...

My result:

"C-Disk (The name of the character) is simply a slightly forgettable character who leads the player around the environment and also helps out. At the start he appears very clumsy but to the end of the game he is extremely careful. He originally was created to sort out simple tasks and sums (for some reason) but there was a slight problem when creating his work drive... Instead of solving tasks he helps someone else with it.

C-Disk is, of course, mostly machine and during gameplay his voice can get a bit glitchy but all-in-all his reactions, emotions and... well... voice is defiantly human."

First task complete (well, almost, there is quite a bit I might need to add-on), Next one;

  • What would his voice sound like? (of course the voice didn't have to be finalised, just an example)

After messing around in Amadeus Pro with different sounds and filters, here is a rough version of C-Disk's voice, complaining about there being too many buttons and dials just for some goo (for better effect look at the picture underneath the download while listening to the voice track);

C-Disk Non distorted voice.mp3

If you like or hate this voice then please let me know in the comments.

That done, now for the last one...;

  • How would he fit into the enviroment/storyline?

Now, this I haven't figured out yet... Hopefully once I finish all the scripts and stuff I will get a better understanding and will be able to answer this question.

Again, most of this was only for the sound which would be hard to upload but if you read through all this then stay tuned... But... not right now... I still have a lot of stuff to do.

Thanks for reading and comments are appreciated.
