WarZ - A Problem
if you're any self-respecting gamer, you would of heard of the hugely popular DayZ mod for ARMAII. That's cool and all, but with the ARMAII engine's limitations, why make it a mod? Why not have it as a standalone game? That's what the creators of WarZ were thinking when they came up with the idea for WarZ, essentially a ripoff of DayZ. It was meant to be a brilliant, indie game with RPG elements, focused on the zombies, but that didn't exactly happen, and a bit of controversy has since been cooked up.
Because there's SO much wrong with this game, allow me to write up a quick list of all the problems surrounding it:
- The Steam description of the game was misleading. It wrongly described features such as a larger map, private servers and hardcore mode.
- A significant amount (around 3000) of users were banned since the Alpha release of the game up until now, for no apparent reason.
- Furthermore, users were banned from the Steam message boards for, again, no apparent reason.
- There are two petitions surrounding the game, both being successful.
- The terms of service linked directly to League of Legends, as if they were just lifted from that game's ToS...
- It currently has a metacritic score of 1.1.
- Steam has removed the game from it's storefront, and you can now send a message to Steam Support to request a refund.
- And most interestingly, the Project Leader on WarZ was the Lead Programmer on Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing.
If you have this game, I suggest getting your money back while you still can.
