The Lego Movie; Has it lost it's magic?
This Blog post is about two of my recent thoughts on TLM. Do note that if you haven't seen TLM (which, I would be surprised if you didn't) then be careful, because THE FOLLOWING CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR TLM.
So, with that noted, here are my thoughts:
I think TLM has began to become a bore. People have seen it around once or twice (maybe even three times if you have any siblings wanting to watch it for the second or third time only to notice when the Movie ends that there is a skeleton wearing your clothes sitting where you sat before the movie) and all the suspense (what the story will be, what sets will come out, etc) has kinda washed away.
Even with new 2015 TLM sets it still feels like a lame attempt to keep TLM's excitement going, and failing in the process. We all memorised what happens; Emmet is mistaken for The Special when he finds the Piece of Resistance after a normal day of work, He's taken on a wild goose chase to get to the Octan Tower while being chased by Lord Buisness's armies of Robots and eventually Lord Buisness finds his good side, "Everyone is special" moral is explained and then after that the film ends after the arrival of Duplos who 'came tow destrow wou'.
I don't even think the second movie will be any good or help with bringing back the excitement that the first brought with it, especially since the movie will take 3 years to work on. Even with the possible addition of Johnny Thunder and a better Gender balance between characters I still feel the second film will not be worth the wait.
