RRUDev: MapCreator - Progress Update
The MapCreator development process has continued carefully. There have been no interface changes as of yet from the first screenshot in the blog before this one. I have been working on the map scrolling and keeping the program running as fast as possible when displaying large 50x50 maps. Unlike the original editor where the program simply optimises itself by not drawing to the screen blocks you can't see, the new map editor complete disables blocks out of view which in turn gives a 30-40% speed boost on slower machines from the previous method. The reason the old method was slow is because even though they were not drawn to the screen they still performed their loops and background checks. The new method completely stops all that. The scrolling speed has been reduced so it won't zip to the other side really fast as before.
I am contemplating putting an "options" button next to the "Place" button. From there you will be able to export just that map file or import a single map file. You will probably be able to do some additional little thinga to do with editing of the maps.
