A Theory About Star Wars Stormtrooper Armour And Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine Power Armour

This random thought came to my head, but in Warhammer 40,000 Lasguns are S3 AP- Rapid Fire. Because of this, they are almost worthless against heavy armoured troops like Space Marines, Eldar Aspect Wariors, Dark Eldar Incubi, and Tau Battlesuits.

Space Marine Power Armour gives an armour save of 3+ (requiring a 3, 4, 5, or 6 on a six sided die), meaning that it's very strong.

Assuming that a Blaster from Star Wars is about as strong as a Lasgun, yet it can blow holes through Stormtrooper armour (also from Star Wars), then I can only assume that if rules from Warhammer 40,000 were applied, Stormtrooper armour would only give a 6+ armour save (requiring a 6 on a six sided die) at most, if any at all.

When Cap't Rex sees this, I bet $10,000 his responce is going to be hilariously wrong.

Anyways, I see what you did there, and I have to agree with you...the armour looks plastic to me, anyways (costume departmemt sucks...). And we all know how hard achieveing a 6 save is...

If I remember right, in the movies a blaster shot won't even penetrate Stormtrooper armour. They just fall over like they're in a Power Rangers skit. Maybe a burn mark is left but that's it.

Evidence of the actual strength of Stromtrooper armor from the movies is highly-lacking. It's well-documented that the "Stromtrooper effect" is in full deployment whenever we see Stromtroopers engaging the heroes, making any judgements largely useless. In actuality, Stormtrooper armor can probably take 2-3 direct hits in the same spot before losing strucutral integerity in that region, more if the hits are glancing.

Well, if that's the case it still wouldn't change the armour rating in comparison. Imperial Guard Flak Armour (5+ armour save) can shrug off harder hits like a Necron Gauss Flayer (S4 AP6 Rapid Fire Gauss Special Rule).

Well, the commando units had stronger armor. Also, there were differnt armor strength for different unit rank. Private rank troopers had weaker armor than sergeant ranks.

@Extreme110 Ha,ha my response wasn't what you expected. You now have to give me the 10,000 dollars!

No, that's not even remotely true, on both counts. Commando unit’s armor may be specialized but it is not stronger. Indeed, it is classified as "light" in comparison with normal ST armor. And the strength of armor is not relative to the rank of the trooper. There are far more privates than sergeants so would it make sense if the majority of your enlisted force is the weakest component?
