I don't have my own tale of letting go of something dear, but I can definitely relate to the butterfly effect. If it weren't for a little forum way back in 2004 dedicated to customizable action figures (Xevolution), I would have never learned about Blockland. In the Blockland community, I learned 3D modeling and did basic machinima. For a while I drifted, practing my modeling and video skills. Sometime around 2009 I discovered Rock Raiders United and, after we learned enough about the game, I started modding it to try to discover new things for us to play with. I was finally putting those years of practice to the test. Though my walkthrough videos could be better and my mods are either minor or incomplete so far, I had finally made something meaningful to more than just me.
One day I'll have to let this all go. But I can leave it knowing that it has had a tremendous impact on my life.
