LEGOS IN SPACE TREE (Released now)
ProfessorBrickkeeper and 4 others reacted to Daynar for a topic
Just beat this masterpiece. Sadly, my computer was not strong enough and crashed the moment the credits ended. This game mixes platforming, racing, top down shooting, scavenger hunting, space travel, and an excellent story to make the perfect game. The controls are intuitive as wasd and arrow keys are used. The player is turned as the mouse moves and the camera tries to allign itself behind the player to give the player the best possible view. The camera is turned at a separate speed to simulate being within the players mind and bringing the surreal feeling of turning into the game. The story was breathtaking and the ending brought about the most of my emotions. This game touched my heart. 10/105 points -
Kingdom Come
aidenpons and 2 others reacted to McJobless for a topic
Prologue Every day is a new adventure. Every breath we take could potentially send us right into the void of space and time, to a realm far beyond human understands where all has happened becomes irrelevant, and all that will happen has no meaning. In a single millisecond, so many variables change that we are the sum of billions of calculations a minute, riding a giant rock flying through the vast and dark coldness of space. And yet, to be human is to forget yourself in the moment, and focus on only what's important. What a great thing none of us are human. Chapter One - The Cycle RRU Corp. A giant civilisation under the guise of a "business" within its own state of Australia. Leading provider of data solutions. Antique collecting and restorations. Loony bin for the criminally insane. Having the great privilege of working there is like being handed the keys to a zoo, only too find out that you're working with a pack of monkeys; insanity breeds. Thankfully, insanity is one of the great commodities traded within RRU Corp, among other meaningless properties. Labels have no meaning when everything starts burning. My name is McJobless, and most of those fires are caused by me. Recently promoted to Editor, and renown for being the main generator for RRU's second most precious resource; flames. I dish it out hard and fast. It's the only way to survive amongst the constant rage of RRU's giant wheels that are the rest of the community. Of course, some might disagree, but we can cover them later. Every day starts the same way; the new kids on the block run one step in the wrong direction, and the flood of alarm bells ring. Waking up is a slow, annoying process, especially considering how heavily wasted I usually get every night. Sometimes it's the only way to get past every horrible action that goes on in the seedy underbelly. My room is nothing particularly fancy; a simple desk setup with a bed nearby, some drawings on the wall and computer parts scattered everywhere. It's not uncommon to find the occasional missing LEGO brick right where you least want it; under your foot. Organisation and cleanliness are the least of my concerns, though, and especially after clearing away the entire hanger that used to occupy my floor, things have become increasingly more simple and slow-going; a side-effect of maturation, no doubt. Entering the elevator, one can always be greeted with a few "friendly" greetings from other employees; if Joe decides to wake up, he's usually touchy-feely, to the detriment of Zeph. Antillies sits in the back, waiting for somebody to mess up before he slams them with a bout of logic and common sense, something lacking in the RRU commodity pool. Jamesster tends to be fairly useless, having spent most of the night before devoting his little sanity left into producing a parody that will rip the world apart. Alcom is Alcom. Other members sometimes come and go, but the classics seem to stand far above the crowd, none moreso than Cirevam the Omnipotent; likely due to some ancient ritual he performed after being ordained by the now-retired Cyrem. We ride that single elevator down to Level 2, the main working level. The atmosphere in this level is mostly oxygen, but occasionally somebody'll pump something a little more potent into the mix, just to see the results. The space itself is fairly open, with each person regularly swapping desks in favour of one day finding the "perfect spot". Considering that the RRU building is more like Howl's Moving Castle than a stationary thing built to purpose, it's unlikely one would ever keep such a spot for longer than the time it took to claim they found it. We all get on with out work, which mostly consists of file research, posting, moderation and so on. A pretty relaxed day of work, if you're not me. Of course, by this time, eyes are all staring at me; the regular members are ready to see the most exciting thing that'll happen all day, the moderators are standing-by with hammers and first-aid kits in case the fire rises, and Cirevam sits in shadow, deciding on what side-burn wax would suit him best. Frankly, he's got better things to do than deal with petty online arguments. Justice is swift, and a flood of animated images tends to shut the new kids up fast. They work on Level 1 for protection, away from the majority of the other members who openly celebrate every tiny victory over the League of Mind-Numbing-Failures. Most of them don't survive long; the shock of being hit by a wall of fire tends to send most of them away. Some braves souls fight back, but it doesn't last long. Needless to say, I've done this for a long time. The mornings pass quickly after that. Inactivity is regularity. Most of the day's work is done within the first few hours, and the rest are spent partying or organising raid parties on places such as LNA. It's easy to pick on those who make themselves targets. The hours pass by. Addict pops in with his Linux-for-Life speeches, and others listen in trance, wondering what would be good for lunch. It's not uncommon for science discussions to rage, alongside just about any other topic; just be careful on what you say, though. There's many a sore point between members, such as telling Antilles about why Breaking Bad is better than Game of Thrones, or telling Le that he sounds exactly like Spongebob, to the point where one might actually think he is the voice actor. Eventually, many head back up to their levels and sleep. Some are in the barracks, others have purchased real estate. It's not much, but it's home, and with an interest rate of 1000%+ (courtesy of the Imperial Bank), you better damn well like it. The rent is expensive, but it's better than being lost in an eternal loop of pitch-black space. Most days run like this; a cosmic cycle that never breaks, except when things go to their absolute worse. Unfortunately, that happens quite regularly, and the moderators have a code for it. "Drama." Little did I know that the next day, I would be dragged right into the bloody middle of it. Welcome to RRU.3 points -

Next Time Cruisers comic: Page 1 Page 2 Page 3 Page 4 I've noticed a few things sort of similar to this as I've been translating, but this particular example seems to be rather telling. The second part of the chief's speech bubble is empty. Is it possible these comics originally produced in another language, that included additional text in this panel? And if so, where would they have been published?3 points -
Brighter Chill Chassis
Fush and one other reacted to Car CrazeXVI for a topic
lol Anti Aliasing I applied the unused "CHASSIDES.MIP" to Chill's chassis in Gimp 2.8.2 and recolored other sections where necessary to match, and finally, hex edited his MD2 model to refer to COL_BLUE.TGA instead of GEAR_PIN.TGA. So this is pretty much because no one else has done it. https://ore.rockraidersunited.org/legacy/Fixed%20Chill%20Chassis_966695.zip To all you Freeze & Chill owners: You're welcome.2 points -
RRU Minecraft Server
Antillies and one other reacted to Jimbob for a topic
Thanks for the suggestions, is this really all you want though? I was expecting some more Bukkit plugins. Even basic stuff like health bars and such. I haven't added any yet simply because of this, it would be easier to add them all at once. In other news... Antillies has suggested we have a round of UltraHardcore - a game much more difficult than standard Hardcore, in which players must work together to defeat the Ender Dragon. The plugin used for this server is UltraHardcore. I haven't really been able to find a run-down of the game so I'll describe it here - for more information see the aforementioned link: Health regeneration is disabled. You lose hearts if hungry. Only Healing Potions and Golden Apples can restore health. Player versus Player is enabled. The aim is to defeat the Ender Dragon. However, if at any point one man is left remaining, they are nominated the winner. Branch mining is not allowed; you must mine your resources using natural caves. If you die, the game is over, and you are banned from the server until the round is over. If enough people are interested, we can arrange a time period (a few/several hours on a particular day) for people to meet up and play. The current server would be backed up and replaced with this UHC server while the round is in progress. If you would like to play this, please post below along with your time zone (in UTC)!2 points -

Allow me to explain the design theory, development process, and public reception of the Legos in Space series through a collection of GIFs: All I got out of that was "It has the comedic nonsense of Monty Python, ended up in a train wreck, and was so good, people had to throw out their inferior computers just to play the game. I love it.2 points -

It does. The part that says " (aÚBü2«B]k.Ã " is the location (and some following stuff is rotation), which can be very easily changed through the hex part of it by using the >coordinate tool.1 point -

IT HAS BEGUN. This is a real piece of work, McJ. A bit of inconsistency in grammar, but nothing too bad. And it pretty much sums up what RRU is. Can't wait to see more. Maybe even chapters from other members...?1 point -

'> Jamesster and I will do a Let's Play over Skype and I'll make sure that's fixed next time. Ok, hold it right here. Meiko, I trusted you. I gave you pre-release versions of this game for playtesting purposes, trusting that you would adhere to the non-disclosure agreement we never actually agreed to, but I certainly implied in my own mind when I gave you the game. And you broke it. You monster. If nobody can have my game, than nobody can. I'm done. Legos in Space Tree is canceled. Goodbye. Eat my fruitcake. Choke on it.1 point -

Jurassic Raiders
fun reacted to Cirevam for a topic
What would the dinosaurs do, given that monsters can't have their boulder functions disabled without making them unresponsive at the same time* AND the fact that we can't change the damage that monsters do to raiders? A dinosaur would grab a minifig, do ten damage, and either repeat or go towards a wall and get a boulder. Also, since we can't shoot when directly controlling raiders, we can't have the fun of running around shooting dinosaurs. This kind of mod just wouldn't work with LRR. * You could use the NPL and tutorial blocks to make monsters patrol a certain area or attack something directly, but since it's scripted it kills replayability.1 point -

(WIP) Boulder Raiders
TheSmartOne reacted to Cirevam for a topic
It's apparent that you don't know the limitations of LRR modding. There are several things that we cannot do, period, since we don't have the source code of the game. Here's a sampling of what you've planned that is impossible to implement, and the reasoning why: Crystal Refinery Like the Ore Refinery, only it refines crystals. First of all, the Power Station is the Crystal Refinery, but more importantly, we can't add a refined version of the energy crystal because it doesn't exist in code already and there's no way to add it in without the source code. Dynamite Launcher Like the Mining Laser, only it shoots dynamite that can destroy hard rock. Mining lasers are hard-coded to shoot those blue lasers no matter what type of weapon is mounted onto them. I have mounted the Rock Monster's boulder onto a mining laser and it still shot the blue laser, albeit with different damage, range, and rate of fire. After trying with every other weapon type, I concluded that it is impossible to make a vehicle weapon that shoots a different projectile or laser. Geological Truck A vehicle that can scan walls and train Geologists Vehicles can't train Rock Raiders, at least I'm pretty sure they can't. A mobile building is a different story. In fact, I'd recommend making this a mobile building since you can't teleport them, so it could add a bit of challenge if you have to find them in levels. Tunnel Teleporter A vehicle that can transport individual Boulder Raiders around the cavern instantly If you mean making a vehicle with passenger seats, then that can't happen. I tried and it doesn't work. The game doesn't like it when two different objects mount the same object. Small Rubble Clearer A very fast vehicle that clears rubble one stage at a time I'm a little unsure of this one, because I've experimented with this and I never got a vehicle to clear rubble one stage at a time. When Extreme110 was going over his development plans for his SKN overhaul, I had to crush his hopes and dreams too. Don't take it personally. By the way, why do people keep trying to start up new overhauls when there's a total of one completed, two being developed, and the rest unsure?1 point
