Interesting post. Yes, you shouldn't concern yourself with the thoughts of others. But this shouldn't be degraded to the 'YOLO' principle - we can't just do what we like, because we like it. Society has laws for a reason. I agree with you though, it's important to enjoy yourself. But responsibility is a key part of that. Just in case someone read this blog and thought 'Alright, I'm gonna do drugs and smash up a car because I like it and don't care what other people think, we shouldn't have laws and all that'.

Self-expression, creativity, I always encouraged that. Though it really is a matter of daring to be different and, at the same time, showing it to the world. It does (kind of) give a feeling of pride, being different, but also unique. Though there might be a whole community of people sharing that same difference from the 'normal kind', in your neighbourhood you perhaps are unique. Live the life like you want to live, providing it doesn't interfere significantly with the life of others.
