    BIONICLE RETURNING 2015

That could be said about anything, to be fair. While I was fond of Greg's writing, I don't mind a different writer as long as he's competent. Greg was good, but he wasn't irreplaceable. However, given that Bionicle's story is likely to be told primarily through television, and given the quality of writing in LEGO's TV shows thus far, I am a bit worried. Though I hope that the Bionicle ethos will inspire the new writers to rise above the standard bread and circuses for eight year-olds. Now if only LEGO would get someone like Rob Shearman or Neil Gaiman to write. Given the media juggernaut that Bionicle is, you think they could afford and would want a world-class writer. Neil Gaiman? You really think they would even consider him? Trust me, they would not pick the author of American Gods, where the first scene is of a woman devouring a man through her (can I say that word here? I'm not sure what the policy is) during sex. I agree that Neil Gaiman is a brilliant author, who can be dark and serious (Graveyard Book, at least at the beginning) but also lighthearted and witty (Stardust, Graveyard Book, Anansi Boys). I think Terry Pratchett would be a much better pick. His books are consistently good and absolutely hilarious (his collaboration with Neil Gaiman on "Good Omens" was incredible). He's very clever. Granted, his humor's probably above children, but since we're talking in hypotheticals about a situation which would never happen, why not? I'm not familiar with the other guy, but I assume that TLG doesn't want to connect themselves too much to anything associated with darker, more adult content. Anyway, I haven't liked their TV shows much either. Ninjago, for example, was very formulaic, as that sort of action cartoon tends to be. The jokes are sometimes okay, but everything's too cheesy and weird. It felt a lot like Power Rangers. This adds significant inertia to the hype train. For better or for worse Greg's writing was the Bionicle canon; if someone takes over the quality might be better, but it could ruin it. Disney taking over Star Wars could have been either the best or worst thing to happen to the theme. Disney has had some very good writing, at times, and their cartoons are timeless. On the other hand, they've created a lot of s***, and they're responsible for furthering negative stereotypes of women and reinforcing bad body image in girls. George Lucas was screwing around with old Star Wars, and fans of the original trilogy almost universally agree that the prequels are awful. Some like him, some didn't. Now that the Star Wars canon, at least post-Jedi, is gone, Disney's choice to acquire Star Wars is now awful, because the expanded universe was way better than the movies themselves. It was a lot more interesting, darker and more serious, and much deeper.

No one requested these, but I've grown to have quite a collection, so I thought I'd post it. Any kind of face? I've done that. Faceless image? Done that. Text? Done that. Anyone else?

    Complete Sparky Expressions

Sparky normally only has three expressions - happy 1 and 2, and surprised 1. This can be problematic if you want to play as him (or any NPC without all expressions) with Cheat Engine. https://ore.rockraidersunited.org/legacy/LR2%20Sparky%20Expressions_360144.zip So here's the other five textures needed to avoid borkage, slapped together from bits of other textures. Remember that you'll need to edit FACES.TXT as explained in that topic for these to be loaded.

    FlicTool 1.1 (FLH compiler/decompiler)

Another minor update, I updated FlicTool to make it cross-platform. I have only tried to build it on Windows and Ubuntu for now, but it shouldn't fail on OS X or other Linux distros. The source can be obtained at https://github.com/Merigrim/FlicTool and now uses CMake to generate buildsystems.

    Mafia: The Game

BobaFett2 and aidenpons solemnly exited the cabin that had been noghiri's, the appalling scene therein all too fresh in their minds. "Well, here we are at last, just the two of us and poor Mr. Tzu. If Noghiri was the killer, then at least we saw to it that justice was done, no matter how unpleasant the experience. If not..." Boba paused, unable to meet Aiden's gaze. "I just hope that Mr. Winsey would have been proud of us. He would have been quite useful, if he wasn't the one to be killed in the first place," said Aiden. "Really?" "He served with the Ningbo police-force once, didn't you know?" "Now that you mention it, that does stir my memory, slightly." "What do you say we have a drink? A little something to calm the nerves? "As long as it's not malt scotch." Boba attempted a chuckle, only to cough uncomfortably. They proceeded silently to the dining room, now a sad reminder of lost lives and lost happiness. Aiden poured himself an Indian Pale Ale. "You know, Boba, I first met Gerald in Ningbo. I was Port Authority there. It was 1920, and the local police were hot on the trail of a notorious ring of opium smugglers. I was introduced to one Gerald Winsey, a promising man of the law who was working hard to put an end to the ring. A very amiable fellow, he and I fast became friends. Towards the the very end of the investigation, I contracted Typhoid Fever. It was a terrible experience. I was unable to do anything as he performed the perilous task of infiltrating the ring." "That is rather nasty, Aiden. But surely you had a substitute?" "Aye, but that doesn't change the fact that I was impotent at such an important time. Anyway, the ring was caught, undone by the pseudonymous Issiah Booker. Not long afterwards, he came into his inheritance and began traveling the world. The rest you know all too well. There's one more thing, though," Aiden grinned broadly , "almost all of the smugglers named me as an accomplice. No-one believed them, of course. Why should they? There was no evidence for such a claim, and desperate men will say just about anything. The funny thing is, they were right." Mr. Tzu was thoroughly enjoying a sumptuous Parisian production of Aida. It was at the Act II finale, and showed no signs of flagging. He was particularly impressed by Richard Temple's performance as the King of Egypt. Suddenly, alas, he heard the unmistakable sound of a gun shot, and the theater faded away. Another shot. That's not right at all. Still confined to his bed, he wondered fearfully if his time was nigh. Aiden leered at the horrified, bleeding Boba. Standing over him triumphantly, he continued "I endured fifteen years of excruciation, railing at the frivolity of fortune, until Percy, our mutual friend, afforded me an opportunity to meet him again. Not that I could have killed him at the party. But I made sure that he kept me in mind, and that I knew where to find him. I was prepared to follow him to the ends of the earth, trite as that may sound. He made things a good deal easier, fortunately, by inviting me. Mind you, I'd have gone regardless of his promised reimbursement. Four-thousand miles would not keep me from my revenge. And so now you know. What's that, not courteous enough to stay awake? Ah, well then, worm, sleep. Oh, what's this? A business card?" Aiden laughed heartily. "Some bodyguard you were!" And so, when the Trepidation of the Spheres was found drifting of the coast of Khazar, nine days later, it was without a trace of any occupants. Earlier that week , Mr. Pons had arrived back in Shanghai. He was quite mum about his sudden holiday. He preferred not to talk about it, intimating that something had gone terribly awry. Only he knew just how successful it had been. Finis Thank you everyone, and congratulations to aidenpons! Is this your first game as Mafia? You acquitted (ha ha) yourself admirably. Here's to the next game!

    The LEGO Ninjago Movie

(Thanks Vector C. for bringing this to my attention.) Just going to debunk this now, there is at least one claim that the Ninjago movie will be live-action. This claim is false. The article refers to a reposting of the official Ninjago movie WB Press Release, the same one I linked >above that supposedly stated Ninjago would be a TLM spinoff. Just as the spinoff claim has no grounding, so this live-action claim is also false. In short, don't believe everything you read on the Internet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_CgPsGY5Mw
