GeoTool Beta 2 - 18 June 2016 A map viewer/editor for Lego Rock Raiders. Currently it can edit most aspects of a map's terrain, and can also convert the heightmap to and from images for editing in GIMP/Photoshop/Paint. It's written in D and OpenGL. Windows only. You can get the source code on GitHub. It replaces the old Heightmap Converter tool, which was ugly and too badly coded to improve any further. Also, I much enjoyed switching to D, it's a fun programming language. Usage Buttons for creating, loading, and saving maps are at the top right. You can also load by dragging a map's icon onto the GeoTool window. The load and save functions automatically detect the map components by their names, so you only need to open one of the map files; the rest will automatically be detected. They do need to be named correctly though -- as in, contain the words "surf"/"high"/etc. somewhere in their filename. You can view and edit the Terrain and the Heightmap with the tabs under the New/Load/Save buttons. Most image formats are supported for heightmaps. Images are grayscale, with black representing height 0 and white representing height 63 (higher than that bugs out LRR, so no point going that high.) You can move the camera with the keyboard or by clicking/dragging on the minimap. Screenshots New GUI to replace the buggy, gray old one: By default, LRR's radar map colors are used for the terrain: Terrain can also use the textures loaded from LRR biomes. Here's level 23 in terrain edit mode, with the rock biome: Heightmap editor: Controls WASD/Click on map = move Home = reset and center view to the center of the map Arrow keys = rotate camera PGUP/PGDN/+/-/Mouse wheel = zoom camera F5/P = save a screenshot F = toggle the FPS/status bar at the bottom Esc = exit You can load a folder containing textures for biomes. Biome folder paths are saved in the settings.ini file, so you don't have to reload them later on. I don't think it's necessary for players to claim builds with signs, but if they wish to it certainly would help moderators (and other players in knowing where they can build). In future we can ask players if a certain build is owned before taking any action should we have a problem with it. Remember though that if a player hasn't claimed a build with a sign, that doesn't give anyone the right to grief it - be respectful in your building. Leave space between your construction and someone else's, for example. In other news, The Ace Railgun will be stepping down from moderator position. I would like to take this moment to say a HUGE thank you to Ace, as you have done a truly excellent job of moderating on this server since its creation. I would give you a cake but it would probably melt in transit, so a hearty 'three cheers for Ace!' shall have to suffice. Thank you, Ace, and goodbye!5 points -

And now it's time for suspicious posts with Xiron, the part of the game were Xiron comes out and makes, a revealing post. Is that so? Well in that case, since I'm voted off, and you won't let me live in exile but rather die as a result, let me do one last silly act what to show you all what you want to see soooooo badly as a reality. *pulls out waffle shaped smoke bomb* *uses* ESCAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPE! *dashes off*2 points -

This is just a "game" idea I had (and many others probably did) and basically, it's like a 'continue the story' Fourm game, except this time it's a song... ...ish... ...depends on what every member throws out to continue the song. The song for this "game"; 12 Days of Christmas RULES; - NO inappropriate/offensive content please - Play each part in order! Do not go back or skip ahead in the song. If you post something that happens at the same time as the person who posted just before you, please edit your post Note: you don't have to make a post per day. It doesn't matter if we go over 12 days. You can also make more than one post just as long as you do not double post of course. That's that, let's begin; *ahem* "#On the 1st day of RRU, Cyrem gave to thee...#"1 point -
Does not load level
KRUISER_AURORA reacted to aidenpons for a topic
Are you using RGB emulation? If you are, don't. It's never helped anybody. If you don't know what that is, don't worry. that explains a lot Nevertheless, it looks fairly valid.... RRU doesn't condone illegal downloads but at the same time, you aren't going to be shunned for doing so. Your third screenshot looks interesting and I've no clue why it's there. Did you put it there or was it in the download? If it was in the download, delete it (but not permanently just in case) as I'm almost certain it's unnecessary. Maybe I'm too much of a Grammar-Nazi, but what do you mean here? Are you talking about a Hard [Disk] Drive or a Driver? And as for the second sentence....? Also, it might just be that level: try adding -testlevels. To do this: Create a shortcut to LegoRR.exe Right-click the shortcut and select "Properties" Go to the Target section and ADD "-testlevels" , without the quotes. Run THAT SHORTCUT. (Also, you may get a Mode Selection Display popup: just tell it to use the default settings: Direct3D HAL and Fullscreen) Try some of the other levels. Also, have you modded your game at all? No? Nevermind. If you HAVE, it's probably an error in your .ol. Any errors, even the "LegoRR.exe has stopped working..." Windows thingy or is it just a straight CTD (Crash To Desktop)?1 point -

Yes, misinformation can cause unnecessary deaths. That's the challenge of the game. The challenge is what makes the game fun. Unnecessary deaths are exactly what you the players, not the host, are trying to avoid.1 point -
Mafia: The Game

When Seaborgium was Mafia, he, in a desperate gambit, duped Maelstromislander into voting for someone (I think it was you) by claiming to be the Detective. Mael, after Xiron's subsequent death, reveled to all and sundry that he had been duped, and it was curtains for Seaborg. No one objected to his little ploy then, so I'm pretty certain that we've simply accepted that the Personal Messenger is a valid extension of the game.1 point -
Santa Chief and his generic 'reindeers'

I know about these problems, but that is intended to be totally unrealistic as game physics sometimes are. The lifepoints bar isn't fully green because the Rock Raider sitting in the sleigh took a nap while some dynamite exploded 3 ft away. This looked weird So I thought a little more brown would fit well1 point -

Adb/gdb/sdb (Animation/geometry/skeleton)

I have been looking in the sdb and gdb files now, too. When you simply look in the gdb file for the CR character in the GAMEDATACOMMONS folder (CRPELVIS.GDB) you will get something like this: If you also look into the PELVIS.SDB file (same folder) and respect the bones structure you may get somthing like this: I think this is a good start for HD meshes. I had also a look into the corresponding files in the MENUDATACIRCUIT1 folder (GUY1.GDB & GUY1.SDB) but I have still an issue with the overlapping vertex lists:1 point -

That's freaking glorious compared to some of the horrors I've seen. It actually communicates a point, for starters. It's rather hard to give feedback on things this early on, but I noticed that while you can't tell them to stand on it, raiders can cross water without a problem.1 point -

What's this? Somebody is starting a LEGO fan game by actually working on the backbone of the game for once, instead of making a wikia site and concept models in LDD cruddy drawings and textures in MS Paint? Yay! (Not that all projects are like that, but man, there sure are a lot of cruddy LEGO Universe fan games out there at the least...)1 point -

I don't have time to check it out now, but it looks like you actually know what you're doing, which is fantastic. I want to see this project continue, which is more than I can say for a lot of the fan made/remake games that are proposed on the forums.1 point
