Retro LEGO Comics/Storybooks/Animated Cartoons General Discussion

I was originally going to delay posting this until I had more to share with it, but I think I've waited long enough at this point. Within the past few weeks Per Sanderhage has kindly shared with me some more materials tied to LEGO Publishing's Pirates series, including more try-out pages by other artists who applied for the Illustrator role, the original job outline from Preben Dewald, a number of Character Visualization sketches by Per Sanderhage, and a page from the series' synopsis preceding the manuscript. What's more is that he also shared something unknown up until now - a suggestion he made to LEGO Publishing in 1987 for a Technic-based Action-series, which unfortunately didn't make it very far into development. You can find the aforementioned material in the spoilers below along with quotes describing each: 1987 Pirates Materials: 1987 Technic Action-series Idea:

Classic LEGO Games Ported to Garry's Mod/SFM

Downloads: I've started doing some LEGO model porting on my break from porting models from 3D Worms games. So. Without further ado, here are a few screens so you know what I'm talking about: Torq Racer from Drome Racers Boat from LEGO Racers 2 (originally I was going to rip a palm tree, but this caught my attention. ) I'll likely be porting other random stuff from all other classic LEGO Games too! (as long as I own it) So, since I'm clueless on what exactly to port, throw me some suggestions! This is not restricted to DR and LR2. Important thing to note! I won't do landscapes and characters for the follow reasons: a) Landscapes can't be ported due to Valve's custom map format. b) Characters should be rigged, and I don't know how to do that (yet). List of Games I can port from: LEGO Racers (N64 Only, when I rip from the PC version it is like someone stuck the model in acid) LEGO Racers 2 Drome Racers LEGO Island 2 Island Xtreme Stunts LEGO Rock Raiders Soccer Mania Bionicle: The Game Games I can't do: LEGO Island (too old) -Others games I still have to test- Chess Creator Creator KK

    LEGO Worlds DLC

I was hunting through the latest version of the game files today, and I found an "additional content" folder - with three subfolders within - "Classic Space DLC", "Dino DLC" and "Classic Space Teaser". There are parts for red, black, blue and yellow classic space astronauts (red in the teaser, the rest in the DLC proper), as well as Benny from The LEGO Movie - airtanks and all. The Dino DLC has textures for non-licensed characters (from the last dinosaur theme before the Jurassic World license, IIRC). I've extracted the face textures and uploaded the whole folder here for you guys to pick through.

Thanks again, Sadie! All of this is super fascinating. I'm glad they reworked Roger's appearance for the final comic, but it's interesting to see where his design came from. The Technic comic would have been super neat (though the 'holes' on the legs are kind of wonky in this context).

Did you manage to accomplish want I said? As I was just trying it, I believe you need the viewing distance set to max for it to work, otherwise the game he knows he is out of your sight so he teleports behind you. If anyone wants it, I can whip up a video.

Ooh, those Life on Mars models - I remember seeing some brickshelf galleries of those models back around 2007-ish, loved 'em: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=5752 http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=5870 Also: There's a LEGO Racers segment that begins around 8:20 that's pretty neat.

there's something intangibly hilarious about how he just freaking zeroes in on you the second you step on the rails. like, I know that isn't a new or profound observation, but seeing him slingshot between pepper and wherever the heck he came from is far funnier than it has any right to be

How did you guess!? I've only got a few (just 2, unless you want to count all the 6? 5? versions of that one house you can click on to change it) buildings left to build from LEGO Island. But I think I'm going to wait till later to build those, and start working on the actual island now.

    LEGO Island at higher resolutions

I was using a remote desktop program to connect to my laptop. For fun I decided to try playing LEGO Island through it. The laptop is 1366x768, while LI is 640x480. Somehow, through this combination of remote desktop and LI, the 3D portions of the game appear to be rendered at 1366x768. The viewable area is still 640x480 though. Is it possible to make LI fill the rest of the screen at a higher resolution? Screenshots below (I've cropped it to only the LI screen and I've pixelated my name.):
