I built it. Yep. I know, I have no life...but it's so beautiful... Okay, so maybe not from the outside...but you can't tell me that THIS isn't a sight. All credit goes to Arthuriel for his awesome LDD bridge model which I followed down to the brick. Until I realized how many things couldn't be done with real Lego that is. I had to make several modifications in order to allow the windows and the elevator section to connect to the main bridge. I also had to lower the floor by the elevator doors in order for them to fit correctly. All in all, I made at least 35 Bricklink orders over a span of the last five months, and it took at least 15 hours to build the sections and connect them in a way that would insure that they were all on the same level. I know that if Lair ever sees this post, he'll give me a bunch of crap about not having Chief's chair in the model, but in my own defense, I didn't feel like painting a chair in a color that wouldn't quite match Dark Turquoise. I'm also considering adding a Brickstuff lighting kit for added effects. Anyway, the gallery with more photos is here. Oh, and I apologize to anybody who wanted a decent quantity of Dark Turquoise 2x2 tiles off of Bricklink...because they're almost all gone.11 points -

I was really curious about the number of people on LEGO Island in the GBA Port of LI2, so I ripped the sprites and grouped characters together. Rhoda Hogg, Technician Bob, the injured guy, and vehicle drivers were also counted. UPPER SECTION (34): MIDDLE SECTION (50): LOWER SECTION (38): MISCELLANEOUS (10): Boney Hawks/Gnarly Bones is also mentioned, but never seen ingame. With him included, the estimated total is 133. It interests me how IXS and this port of LI2 depicted LEGO Island more as a small town.6 points -

Now seems like a good time to bring up this sheet of LEGO Loco character designs, some of which obviously... got revised: Yep. Those are legitimately 3D busty minifigs. That (almost) happened.3 points -

This was bothering me so I dug up my old let's play to check. After a long (and fun) description of the patient's accident, Pepper refers to him as "Lucky." So there you go!2 points -

Nexus Farce: Ingress of Imagination

EDIT: HEY LEGO MESSAGE BOARD MODERATION TEAM, ELIMBIER IS ONE OF MINE. IT'S NOT PLAGIARISM, OKAY? A few years ago, I tasked myself with a writing exercise to expand on the LEGO Universe origin story, told in a dramatic and engaging narrative. It was exceedingly dark with embellished descriptions and edgy dialog. Up to now it hasn’t been published… I’d personally like to keep it that way. Excessive purple prose, said bookisms, and unrealistic diction are just a few of its infractions against the literary hobby. Thus, I buried it and eventually exhumed it a year or so later, incinerated the corpse, and built something completely different atop its remains. Hopefully this one is comically serviceable. I’m also planning to post this incrementally on the Elimbies, just to see what extent of scatological subterfuge the moderators will tolerate. I may share my results in a blog afterward. Feedback is appreciated, provided that it only reinforces my narcissistic outlook. Criticism, constructive or otherwise, will be overlooked in favor of glowing reviews by the mindless masses. New chapters will be published every Friday, and the accompanying vignettes will be posted in a separate topic in the LEGO Creations forum. Nexus Farce: IoI Vignettes
Ben_R_R reacted to Brigs for a topic
As the title implies, these are the vignettes which accompany Nexus Farce: Ingress of Imagination. Below are alternative views of the models and a brief description. Chapter 1 - Johnny Thunder and the Quest for the MacGuffin "Johnny Thunder and the Quest for the MacGuffin" Much of this model's inspiration ostensibly comes from classic Adventurers sets and the slightly more recent Indiana Jones sets. The eponymous MacGuffin is a Voltstone from the Insectoids theme, which is called an Imaginite Crystal in LEGO Universe. Includes one Johnny Thunder and one affable dismembered skeleton. The symbol behind our hero is a simplification of the insignia seen inside the Nexus Temple in the story cinematic trailer. The elevated region is also shaped after the insignia. The First Builders and Mythran apparently have a penchant for triangular geometries. A dozen of those useless flick-fire projectiles are embedded in the wall, and to their right is that one conspicuously protruding brick. A couple friendly swinging blades are suspended to the left, and the obligatory lava pit sits beneath. Skeleton.1 point -

Chapter 3 - Albert "Pants Party" In all of its glorious inebriated splendor. This one's my indisputable favorite of the batch. Notion Potions are actual consumables in LEGO Universe. I represented it with this obscure piece in trans-medium blue, which works surprisingly well. Anyway, this acid trip is the spawn of the progenitor to this story, which was originally titled "Expedition". Albert had a really depressing and cliche-ridden backstory that surpassed the nebulous PG rating back then, which this parodies in an only slightly less objectionable form. But enough of that; the morality police may be surveilling us!1 point -

It would be nice to have a patcher that can do this automatically with selections on what to patch. It's a bit confusing doing it manually when you're not sure how to use the tool.1 point -

Longtree guy also has a house in a park-type area and was obsessed with the color green, IIRC. I remember the game had some good jokes about how the firefighters never do anything because there are never any fires on the island. Oh yeah, isn't the miscellaneous bandage guy Lucky Larry? Like, he had a little cameo before his proper introduction in IXS.1 point -

Unless anybody knows of more, I'm pretty sure Steve and the Beach Troopers in LEGO Star Wars 2 are the only minifigures to have nipples. (They were changed to have more clothing in The Complete Saga.) What an amazing piece of trivia.1 point -

...lolno. Everything we've seen so far suggests this is a big bang theme for 2016, with masses of merch, it's own TV series, a 4D film and an app connecting all of the individual promotional strands together. How does any of this hint to NK being a one-and-done theme, other than you not liking it?1 point -

This whole "Lego isn't about creative building anymore!" is a rather tired bandwagon. No one is forcing you to build anything you don't want to. Besides, oldschool sets still involved following, y'know, instructions if you wanted to build whatever's in them.1 point -
