ITS ONE O CLOCK IN THE MORNING AND BIONICLE IS DEAD REST IN PEACE YOU LOVELY OLD FOOL

I had an odd number of tracks. Now I have an even number of tracks. Fortunately, the post editor allows me to shrink images - very good! Boasting two twin lasers and one small artillery cannon, this vehicle can [rest of spouting stuff about it] I had one spare track... and I decided to build around it in the MM colourscheme... and this came out. The cockpit opens and the laser tilts to a maximum of 45o. Vehicle II: I had white skis. I built around them in the MM colourscheme. I thought it looked vaguely like some small, not-very-well-armed scout, so I thought of scout-ish things while building it (which saved me the trouble of scavenging for a decent glass cockpit ) Those blue 1x1 studs are supposed to be lasers, okay? It's rather cramped in there, but he fits. That's the safe at the back for small crystal storage and movement. === A Strange Bit Of Gingerbread === Every year, our family makes gingerbread castles on a rainy-ish day - remember, for us in the Southern Hemisphere it's winter. I couldn't decide what to make and in a spur of either blind stupidity or great ingenuity I made the Mars Mission Defense Station. I think the image speaks for itself there. Full of sugar. That said, building with gingerbread is extremely difficult - high towers are almost impossible. Almost, and I managed to squeeze the turret into a reasonable width by using non-orthodox building conventions (which weren't SNOT ) I traced the outline of the defense station and the pipe, but not the power plant. Partly because I was wondering how to build it. On the left is also our brutally deformed mining platform (see first picture - it's missing the drill). Sugar!

http://www.lego.com/en-us/bionicle/newsboard Official announcement. No Makuta set or Mask of Ultimate Power! Too bad. I have a lot of thoughts in my head, so I'm gonna try writing them down. I've had my qualms with Journey to One. Goodness knows I have - I'm sure most of you reading this know that well enough. Coming into these new episodes, though, I kind of knew what to expect as far as production value went. I think that went a long way to making the whole thing a less disappointing experience. And even though, if I cared to dig, I'm sure I could find just as many issues with the script this time around. And the animation, and the staging, and the shot-to-shot pacing, what absolutely overwhelmed me by the end was how much they just wanted to give Bionicle a good sendoff. My idea of a sendoff probably would have been different. But what they did is, on an elemental level, so much more Bionicle than anything past 2005 ever was, up to and including G1's conclusion. They did the thing! The thing the Toa always did where they all shot their power at once to trap Makuta (and the Bahrag that one time). Let me tell you a secret: planet-sized robots fighting is okay, but it's not very Bionicle. This was, after a fashion. And they didn't hold back on the parallels to the original films, either. The Shadow Realm Makuta is trapped in is represented by a rock that looks just like the shard Roodaka claws from Makuta's rock prision in Web of Shadows. It even has a propensity for shooting out a shadowy hand to suck people in with - just like old Makuta did (he used the ability through the rock in Web of Shadows, but I couldn't get a screenshot that shows it well). Visually, the Toa sealing Makuta back away is just like Legends of Metru Nui, too. And in both productions, the shot is closely followed by the Toa's spirits in the stars (literally, and metaphorically). And then we end on "For that is the Legend of BIONICLE," which doesn't only carry on the tradition of how the original films concluded, but actually acknowledges the original in-universe meaning of "Bionicle" - the legend of the Toa who will arrive to save the island. That's something that hasn't been touched since 2001. It's not perfect. But goddamn, they really gave it their all, and I can't help but really, deeply admire that. As far as ways to say goodbye to Bionicle go, its a hell of a lot better than any other option that's come up since Mask of Light. And I think I'm okay with leaving it at that. Goodbye again, Bionicle. And thanks for everything.

Well that's it, then. It's all ogre. While I'm sad we didn't get a proper Makuta set (and if we even get just the mask for a contest or some BS, I'll bet money that BZPower will get them all as usual), I can at least take solace in the fact that we didn't get some Stars-quality sets this time. ON THAT NOTE THOUGH, I wouldn't be surprised if the Star Wars buildable figures were the catalyst for this decision. They made more money from the name alone, and less effort to create original characters. I wasn't expecting Bionicle to last forever, but I was hoping for at least the full three years we heard about back in 2014. Oh well. We got two years more than I ever hoped for, and LEGO did handle closure very well this time, with a clean break instead of skirting around the Kikanolo in the room. My only hope now is that we get some CCBS IP that isn't just bloody Star Wars. So long, Bionicle. And thanks for all the bricks.

So if you recall, Brickset started their own repository of LEGO catalogs a little while ago. I made the mistake of assuming there wouldn't be much new to see in the new ones they uploaded. Turns out I was wrong. All this stuff is from their uploads of the large UK catalogs. There may well be more stuff in there I haven't come across yet. 1992 Some interaction between Gov. Broadside and Admiral Woodhouse 1993 Another source referring to the Dragon Masters wizard/dragon duo as Merlin and Ogwen. I think the only other place these came up was the audio dramas. Max has 400,000,000 on his head. What the hell has he been doing?! Alludes to a "Blacktron Commander." The thing that happens to him is that he's supposed to be the Blacktron frozen in ice in the one Ice Planet diorama. 1994 Just look through pages 28 - 47. The whole Max Timebuster chase in English. Note that the first page of it has a diorama that actually included three Max Timebusters, so they photoshopped two of them to be different. 1997 The "Time Travellers Zone?" owned This seems to clarify the whole Techdroid business This fig is named Running Bear Early LEGO Island cover art. nice face texture 1998 Sam Grant's backstory. The website suggested is still up and looks like it hasn't changed much. The Insectoids descriptions go into surprising detail about how the different vehicles work together in the Voltstone harvesting operation. Also, two 'Insector' characters, like maybe it's a title or something. Does that resolve any naming issues elsewhere? 1999 Bizarre description that actually appears to tie the international and US versions of the Insectoids story together. Last but not least, a bunch of new Throwbots/Slizer info that is metal as f**** - including, finally, written descriptions of the stories suggested by the art on the discs. Like, sure yeah, the confirmation that the Judge is trying to take over the planet is a long time coming, but like, Ice uses the crystals he finds to "destroy the fur of the bloodthirsty animals that inhabit his continent so they cannot survive the cold." Absolutely savage. So yeah, lots of fun stuff. Edit: oh yeah, almost forgot these guys. Nothing completely new but slightly different from what we've seen before.

Man this is great. I was expecting a bio that left open the possibility that the Spy *could* be Dash, while still keeping it vague. But instead we got a bio that removed any possibility of him NOT being Dash. That's amazing and I love it.

This is like an official version of custom decals some people make for their Original Characters Do Not Steal, with square heads. Think Saber Scorpion, but awful. LEGO would probably have done better if they made a "make your own skin" set.

This is an abomination and the people responsible for this in the LEGO Group should feel ashamed of themselves.

just felt like spicing this up a bit, might animate more completely later if I feel like it torso texture edited from one of aaronburner's, face is a mishmash of edited LU stuff and a mouth that krysto vectored from some head the model was converted to OBJ using an old tool from bartvbl and then I set it up in unity and did the fun stuff with the shading and effects and blah blah blah. oh and the minifigure model is mine, the hat's edited from LDD though

Finally someone put something up with a clear view of his face! Back/wristband and front with goggles From here! Kinda disappointing he doesn't have stubble, but other than that, good stuff. I like that they added the A to the icon that's very explicitly from the theme's logo.

Do you remember this from RRU? (Sorry, that it is that big. Usually that doesn't happen with bigger pictures. I think, it has to do with the format.).

Brickset got those Shop at Home catalogs added. Unfortunately it isn't everything, and there isn't much new. This is the first time I've seen Robin Hood mentioned in US materials, though. also this
