http://www.lego.com/en-us/life/ I was flipping through the latest Club magazine online and it had an ad pointing me to... this. Don't let the video fool you, it's still being developed, so it looks like you can only try it out if you are in the UK at the moment. But just what is it? The video's maddening insistence on just using the word "stuff" wasn't helpful, but from what I gather from the actual site, it seems like Lego is trying to set up its own social network that focuses on building contests. Building contests for kids aren't very interesting for us mature, adult, LEGO™ Connoisseurs, but what may be interesting to us is the other stuff - a minifig avatar customizer for your profile, accounts 'belonging to' minifig characters (getting into MLN territory here), and "easy access to all the latest LEGO® news." There's also this, from the FAQ: ...which seems to imply game-like elements are part of the deal. So maybe this is quite literally going to be MLN 2.0. Something to keep an eye on, I think!

I find it incredibly amusing that perhaps the final piece of Bionicle media ever not only blatantly rejects the established tone and world, but also apathetically introduces the use of the term "matoran" into G2 after two years of fighting against doing just that. also it says "for the full story go to bionicle.com," which is good because the story relevant to what it is showing is not on bionicle.com and it never will be

So I was reading a completely unrelated article about 90's SEGA ads in the UK, and it mentioned that a cinematographer called Geoff Boyle had worked on ads for a ton 'o companies, including Lego. Had a quick google, and it turns out that he's done quite a bit of work for TLG and documented it all on his website. Here's some of the highlights I could spot: Adventurers Ad (the one with the kid becoming Johnny Thunder): Technic Ad (the one with the wind tunnel): 2000's-ish Racers Ad (referred to as "Lego Racers 3" on his site for some reason?): (guessing this one partly inspired/was inspired by Supersonic RC?) There's bunch more on his site, so I'd definitely recommend having a look yourselves since some of it is actually really interesting. Also here's a link to that article about the UK SEGA ads he did since it's actually quite a nice read too.

But are the pictures going to be scanned by software so no inappropriate images get through and the comments restricted to a white list of allowed words? "Trade Too-tree-our axe!"

i dont think they're supposed to represent any specific characters really, just minecraft styled minifigure parts that you can easily make your own minecraftified figure

Hm, I'm in the UK so maybe I'll give it a whirl and see what all the fuss stuff is about.

it's the same group of people but this is their third channel they keep "breaking up" and "reforming" (which just means a few people leave and a few new people join around and they decide to change their name as a result??? or something idk?) and i guess they like reuploading their fifty million homestuck videos over and over and they still haven't made any more of these past #8
