Retro LEGO Comics/Storybooks/Animated Cartoons General Discussion

Greetings again, Rock Raiders! I recently picked up the latest edition of Bricks Culture Magazine, Issue 7! In this issue is a brand new interview with Frank Madsen, the author of Jim Spaceborn comics, and a bit of more content from the comics itself! Here's the preview page they have posted on their website: I'm not sure if it's legible but the upper right hand corner says that these are scrapped T-Shirt designs that never made it to the finished product! I have the digital copy on me but I'm not so sure if I'm allowed to post content from it? I'd really love to, there's some really great stuff in there, but I don't want to get into any trouble! Here's the link to the latest issue! Also as an ending footnote, @Sadie Meowsalot and I have been able to acquire the Jim Spaceborn animation materials (these were mentioned in a few posts back) recently! We're still figuring out a way we can legally share them with you, as there are contracts and legal obligations to we are bound by, but we will keep you posted once we figure out a way to do so!

Bumping the topic just to post this: Why? Well, I shared this LI2 GBC screenshot on Discord. Then @mumboking brought up the original post image. I did what I had to do

    Most Violent Lego Theme

I take it back, LEGO Friends is actually the most violent theme: I know it's just a MOC, but whatever Kinda ironic when he lives in (I think) a town called Safeville, y'know?

    Classic Rocket Racer

The mod replaces Rocket Racer's body/face textures with modified versions of his textures from LEGO Racers 1, and replaces his head/helmet model with an altered version that uses two new textures and a new skybox (for his solid black visor). Can also replace player character models/textures if you rename the files (see the Veronica Voltage mod for example). Download Original post:

    Most Violent Lego Theme

Some misc points: LEGO Battles had the Mars Mission aliens crash landing on Mars and trying to use the crystals to power their ship and get back home. The human side discovered the crystals coincidentally around the same time and the two sides started fighting over them. The mission text in the game described it a bit more, but here's the cutscenes: It ends with the aliens finally getting enough crystals to leave Mars, complete with a very Rock Raiders-reminiscent cutscene of them loading energy crystals into their ship's power system. Oh, there's also a subplot with Space Police chasing criminals who'd escaped to Mars, but that's mostly irrelevant. Also, the plot of Insectoids involved a group of Zotaxians (the aliens from the UFO theme) who fled from their "cruel leader" after a civil war, and escaped to a hollow planet called Holox. The planet's surface was too barren to support life, but when they went inside they found giant Bilgen Bugs living around and hatching eggs from the energy of an "inner sun" (don't question the physics of this too much). So they disguised their vehicles as insects, made voltstones (like solar batteries) that looked like bug eggs, and destroyed bug eggs to put voltstones in their place. The bugs caught on and things generally got a bit more dangerous. tl;dr lego really likes conflicts between aliens over power sources in space

    Most Violent Lego Theme

The Power Miners story was actually that the rock monsters were eating the crystals and burping or something like that so much it was causing cataclysmic earthquakes on the surface. So they were collecting the crystals to stop the most embarrassing apocalypse of all time

I'm still here sometimes, but currently I'm just too busy with other things and apps. I'm currently learning C++ which is a lot more low level which will definitely makes things I made a few years ago a lot clearer when I dive into this project again. I still hope sometimes that I will pick up this project and finish it.

Skateboard tricks outside the skate park

Think you've got that backwards - I've tried them both with the standard framerate cap (60) and uncapped (debug mode) and they play at the same speeds on both (or so close I didn't see any difference), and said speed is usually too slow for the animation to even complete (or for some, hardly even begin!) before Pepper hits the ground and they stop. There's one or two where the speed is slightly higher than it seems it should be, but nothing too crazy.

"Whoa. Look at all my babes!"

Now seems like a good time to bring up this sheet of LEGO Loco character designs, some of which obviously... got revised: Yep. Those are legitimately 3D busty minifigs. That (almost) happened.

Unless anybody knows of more, I'm pretty sure Steve and the Beach Troopers in LEGO Star Wars 2 are the only minifigures to have nipples. (They were changed to have more clothing in The Complete Saga.) What an amazing piece of trivia.
