LEGO Island .wdb Extractor
Ben24x7 and 7 others reacted to Hamhock666 for a topic
So I know it's been a long time, but I have gotten around to figuring out how to extract most of the other models in the WDB. I had to overhaul the entire old extractor, but it is working well after a long time of hacking away at it. The project is still on github, so here is the link to the source project: https://github.com/LiamBrandt/WDBRipper But most people will probably just want the exe, in which case here is the link to the direct download: https://github.com/LiamBrandt/WDBRipper/releases/download/v0.2.0/wdb-ripper-v.0.2.0-binary.zip I found the hospital (medcenter) and the race track, and a bunch of the models that were previously missing. The tool extracts 451 out of the 592 models, whereas the old one only did around 300. I have a feeling that with some more effort the rest of the models could be figured out, but most of them seem unimportant, and a bunch don't even have model data in them, just weird numbers that I don't know what they do.8 points -

I threw this together in around... oh god, 4-5 hours, and now it's 8 AM It'll let you look around the LEGO Island racetrack now that we have the models for it, and enable/disable the individual models to get better views (especially needed since the main island actually intersects with the track in a few places). You can also change the sky color since that's pretty crucial to it looking right (most of it doesn't have any ceilings; it's actually a black sky, dark blue in the dome), and the graphics are fairly faithful to the original game, and I even added a goddam FOV slider, all because I got carried away AND IT'S NOW 8 AM This only has the main landscape models since that's what's important, and they've been vertex snapped together so their positioning should be pretty much dead on accurate http://i.imgur.com/puCZ0V8.png http://i.imgur.com/dGbDqGC.png http://i.imgur.com/cNDFB7S.png Also it's kinda fun to run in 640x480 for EXTREME 1997 MODE http://i.imgur.com/NRQ6l5V.png ... Man, that looks like a screenshot from the actual game, haha, BUT IT ISN'T~ I've uploaded to both Oresome and Mediafire, doesn't matter which site you download from. LEGO Alpha Team - Windows 10 Setup Guide
aidenpons reacted to Jimbob for a topic
All credit for the methods used here goes to @lordtobi, who posted a few different tricks around the Alpha Team subforum. All I've done is collate his work into one simple tutorial with screenshots, so please direct any appreciation his way! 1. Insert the LEGO Alpha Team disc into your PC. Open This PC/My Computer, right-click on the disc and select “Open”. 2. Select all files on the disc, except from the "DirectX" folder, and copy them. 3. Create a new folder somewhere that you have permissions (e.g. Desktop, Documents, but not Program Files). Paste all the files inside this folder. Note that in the previous screenshot I have a “desktop.ini” file selected, this doesn’t need to be copied. 4. Inside this folder, create a new folder called "DirectX". Download the .dll files here, extract them, and place them inside this DirectX folder. 5. Back in the main folder, right-click on “Setup.exe” and choose “Properties”. In the window that pops up, select the “Compatibility” tab and set it up as shown below. Make sure you press “Apply” before pressing “OK” or closing the window. 6. Run the “Setup.exe” file in this folder. Follow all the steps, clicking OK when informed that “DirectX 7 will now be installed on your computer”. The application may freeze temporarily, just give it a minute. Click “Finish” to close the setup program when it is complete. 7. Navigate to the folder where LEGO Alpha Team installed. For me, this was: C:\Program Files (x86)\LEGO Media\Games\LEGO Alpha Team 8. As with the “Setup.exe” program before, right click on the “Launcher.exe” file, select “Properties”, then go to the “Compatibility” tab and set it up as shown below. Do the same for the “LEGOATeam.exe” file. 9. To run the game without requiring a disc, first run "Launcher.exe", then press "Exit" when it starts. 10. Now copy the “Config.txt” to somewhere you have permissions (e.g. Desktop), and open it in Notepad. In the below screenshots I’m in the install directory, but you probably won’t be able to save from here. Remove the “DiscPath #:\” line, then under the DisplayGUID line (I’ve blurred the code as I wasn’t sure if it was important), add in “VerifyDiscVol false”, including both spaces. Save the file and close it, then copy it and paste it back over the “Config.txt” file in the install directory, replacing it. 11. To keep the intro video, navigate back to the folder created in Step 3 (where you pasted the disc’s files), copy “lmiintro.avi”, and paste it in the install directory. You can now delete the entire folder created in Step 3. 12. Finally, to set your custom resolution, run the game and adjust the settings to populate the configuration file. Then select the “Game.txt” file in the install directory, copy it somewhere that you have permissions, and open it in Notepad. Again, I show the file in the install directory here, but you’ll want to have it somewhere like your Desktop. Change “BPP ##” to “BPP 32”, then change “Width ####” to your desired width and “Height ###” to your desired height. Remember to leave two spaces between the text and the numbers. Below is my modified file. Save and close it, then copy it and paste it back over the original “Game.txt” in the install directory, replacing it. Congratulations, you’ve installed Alpha Team and are ready to play it on Windows 10!1 point -
LEGO Racers - Windows 10 Setup Guide
Jugebox98 reacted to Jimbob for a topic
This tutorial was written for the 1999 version of LEGO Racers, so you may not need to follow steps 3-6 if you have a different version. It is important that you follow these steps in the exact order specified, or you may have trouble launching the game. 1. Insert the LEGO Racers disc into your PC. Rather than install the game conventionally, you will need to download le717’s Racers Alternate Installer here. 2. When the executable file has downloaded, run it and follow through the steps. Once completed, uncheck “Launch LEGO Racers” and press “Finish” to close the installer. 3. LEGO Racers uses SafeDisc protection (at least, the 1999 version does), which is no longer supported in Windows 10. You can however re-enable the driver that SafeDisc uses, but only do so when you wish to play LEGO Racers and other trusted games as it was removed for a reason. Open a folder in Windows Explorer, such as Documents. Click “File”, then mouse over “Open command prompt” and choose “Open command prompt as administrator”. 4. Type in (without quotes) “bcdedit /set TESTSIGNING ON”. Press enter and it will state “This operation completed successfully.” Now you can close the command prompt. 5. Download this file, extract it and place the “SECDRV.SYS” file into the following location: C:\Windows\System32\drivers Then restart your computer. 6. Upon logging back in, you should see text in the lower-right corner of your desktop, along the lines of “Test Mode Windows 10 Home” with some random nonsense after. You will need the Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider to actually make the SECDRV.SYS driver work. Go to this page and click “Download” at the bottom, then choose “Agree” to download it. Right click dseo13b.exe and select “Run as administrator”. Press Next, then Yes, and you’ll be at the main menu. Check “Sign a System File” and press Next. Now you will need to type in the location of the SECDRV.SYS file, which should be: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\SECDRV.SYS Click OK and OK again, then in the main menu check “Exit” and press Next. 7. The game should now launch without trouble, but it can also be made widescreen and prepared for easy modding. Download JrMasterModelBuilder’s JAM Extractor here. 8. Extract the folder and you’ll see files inside, including a “JAMExtractor.exe” file. Copy the “LEGO.JAM” file from your installation directory and paste it here. Then drag the pasted “LEGO.JAM” file onto the “JAMExtractor.exe” file to extract it. A new LEGO folder will appear when the program is finished, and your folder should look like this: 9. Open the “LEGO” folder, select the “GAMEDATA” and “MENUDATA” folders inside, and move them into your install directory. When that’s finished, you can delete the extracted JAMExtractor folder, including all files inside. Then rename the “LEGO.JAM” file in the install directory to “BACKUP LEGO.JAM”. Your install directory should now look like this: 10. Finally, to run the game in widescreen at custom resolutions, first download WillKirkby’s LR1 Launcher here. 10. Extract the downloaded ZIP and move its “LR1Launcher.exe” file into the install directory. Set the compatibility options to run the application with administrative privelages, by right-clicking it, choosing “Properties”, and entering the “Compatibility” tab. Then check “Run this program as an administrator” as shown below. 11. Run LR1Launcher.exe (you can make a shortcut to it elsewhere if you wish), select your desired resolution and check boxes as you wish, then click Launch and play LEGO Racers! When you’ve finished, follow steps 3-4, this time entering “bcdedit /set TESTSIGNING OFF”. Reboot the computer and it will be back to normal, with LEGO Racers not launching again. In future you will need to follow steps 3, 4 and the latter part of 6 - enabling test mode, rebooting into it and signing the driver - whenever you wish to play the game, but it’s far less hassle than using a virtual machine or transferring files to an old XP computer if you’re modding.1 point -

Sadly the skeleton model wasn't extracted as far as I can tell. I want it too. :c Technically, yes, though I've never done it... Isn't there only one guy that has, actually? Anyway, updated the OP with Mac and Linux versions, and Windows (64-bit) too because why not.1 point -

Change the extension of the original PAC files to something else (for example, Map.totallynotapacfile) or just move them out of the folder entirely. The game doesn't require PAC files with the original names to be present, it'll look for any .PAC files it can find (as well as for files not in .PACs, as said in the OP).1 point -

Not sure what you mean by "is this a leak?" Its in something officially released by Lego, and leaks are when new lego stuff comes out from someone who isn't lego and isn't supposed to be sharing what they do share. If you mean it in the sense that the fig is from a new Island line, well, this is clearly an unaltered IXS Pepper and we know what the winter 2017 lineup looks like - no Island stuff. And it would be completely unprecedented to have a fig from a release more than a few months away to show up in Club Magazine. It's just a fun little thing for people like us to notice and smile at.1 point -
