Update - @Ayliffe tipped me off that LEGOLAND Windsor has an entirely different CG video explaining how to drive:

Walk speed varies with camera pitch

Due to the wobble in both of their paths (the camera is constantly trying to rotate itself, and I was manually adjusting it with the mouse), it's hard to say if running sideways is faster than running diagonally, or vice versa... But despite the wobbling making both of their paths longer, they still both manage to outpace running straight forward. To get a better view, try playing the video at 0.5 or 0.25 speed. At least the diagonal quirk is a bit more common... Though given just running left/right seems faster, too, who knows exactly what's going on here. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DiagonalSpeedBoost

Cafeteria 1.0 BETA 7 - Launcher & Mod Loader for LRR

Yes thats normal at this stage as I haven't moved all interface elements yet. Other than for tutorial levels the message box is rather useless. As for the crystal bar, the only purpose it serves is showing how many crystals are in use, so they havent been the highest of priorities compared to some other things.

A New Cavern Has Been Discovered

I've always had an itch to capture the feeling of LRR with real LEGO. I finally had the opportunity to give it a shot and, though I don't think I satisfied my aesthetic wishes this time around, it produced some interesting stills. Wanted to share them in case they might prove interesting or enjoyable to others.

  8. So, while this site was down, for LEGO Island's 20th anniversary (Oct. 2) I tried to organize a Reddit AMA with people who worked on the game, as many as I could contact and would be interested. I got in touch with a number of people, ~12-16 iirc. Unfortunately, the AMA ultimately never materialized, mostly because an AMA requires verification, and I didn't know how that could happen for such an old game. (Then the r/games mods got peeved at me for being overenthusiastic, basically saying I'll never be able to try to do any AMA there again.) And during that time, Wes Jenkins passed away (about a week from LI's 20th anniversary original release date, iirc), which basically sealed the "not gonna happen" deal. However, as a result of my contact, one of the animators wrote up an interesting article on his time working on the game (he emailed it to me, and I saved it in this document just now) - https://docs.google.com/document/d/1chL_iGfo-h559vnR6ds_ZDnLWicZ48RYxFlf1wmV2aE/edit?usp=sharing EDIT: Talked to Kathleen "Brick-by-Brick" Salvia, very nice lady.

    LI2 BOD/BOB Extractor v1.0

I forget who it was, but someone on the forum was wishing that they had a tool that could extract all the LEGO Island 2 .bod/.bob archives at once. Well, here it is: Mediafire: http://www.mediafire.com/file/dvqsgbb9858e8ue/LI2_Extracter_v1.0.zip RRU Files Database: https://www.rockraidersunited.com/files/dl-r436/ Just extract the .exe to the '_data' folder in your LEGO Island 2 install directory. You'll need to run it from a terminal though. To extract all the .bod/.bob files, run it with the command line argument '-all'. Example: "LI2Extractor.exe -all" It can also extract individual .bod/.bob archives, just enter the .bod file as the command line argument and it will automatically open and extract the corresponding .bob file on its own. By the way, I think that when you extract a .bod/.bob archive into the game's '_data' folder, the game should read those files, instead of using the archive, otherwise this tool would e ind of pointless without something to rebuild all the archives. I might still end up releasing a tool for rebuilding all the archives, I'll just have to see If I can get around to it... Legomoe
