TheEPICtrainrider
Listen, I just want to settle this topic once and for all, because me and Dragon are going to flame each other if this continues. Think of it like this, of you could only play one game in ether of these series, which one would it be.
Acmex
Are you quite serious? I would play neither, buying games is a waste of money. Get free & opensource ones instead. Also, Half-Life (matter) is pretty cool. But Half-Life(Game-Series) Is distrubited by Valve, which effectively prevents me from choosing that one. Therefore, I absantain. Yes, I just wormed my way out of this because I've never played either.

Cirevam
I would play neither, buying games is a waste of money. Get free & opensource ones instead. ...Who buys games anymore? Half Life is better because it's not full of whiny characters. There is a man, The One Free Man, and he has a crowbar and a zero-point energy manipulating device thing. His goal is to relinquish all peoples, human and alien, from the entrappings of those who wish to rule. Whether it be Nihilanth, the Combine overworld, or something greater, he will stop them. It also doesn't have characters that have names with stupid pronunciations, or swords that are taller than those who wield them. Both have BAWWWing over the death of a character though, so that can't be used as a comparison. Also:
RockmoddeR
I guess half-life, because, I'm sorry to all of you fantasy people for what I am about to say, I just think fantasy needs to remain...well...in fantasy...except for Lord of the Rings, dragons and medieval literature (which isn't really fantasy, just old history) which are really the only properties fantasy I ever liked. Aki Dazrold
Pros: HL: pwnful gameplay and epic storyline FF: eye sex graphics in recent games, decent gameplay Cons: HL: Valve FF: So effing many of them. They don't know when to quit. Preferred choice: Half Life

Free and open-source over commercial games... I think NOT! When any non-commercial company starts producing commercial grade games for free, let me know. And there is only ONE BAWWWing over death, I think. And besides that, google "Best Games if the Decade" Half Life 2 is usually in the top ten. Zephyria
Final fantasy Came out over 20 years ago, and has endured a huge fan-base To this DAY!...Can half-life say its been around for Over two Decades?
theextractor
It's hard to compare these games since they're almost completely different. FF has a ton of games, but HL has a massive modding community, so both have proven the longevity of their series. For instance, i bought this game one time because it was cheap, got good ratings on gamespot, and it looked kind of funny. It turned out to be one of the crappiest games i've ever played. The moral of the story is: Just because i hated the crap out of that game, obviously some guy on gamespot thought it was sweet. Different games for different people. I concur! | :doc:
Acmex
Cyrem, I can think of one "Non-Commercial" company that makes "Commercial Quality" game. Bay12 DwarfFortress is far more detailed than ANYTHING you can get off the shelf. Graphics are for n00bs. ASCII(or tileset) FTW

INB681
Battle for Wesnoth is good enough to be worth money, and doesn't have a steep learning curve. But yeah, seriously, anyone that has studied SOME physics on mass and forces should know that those swords are way too long to be able to wield them. But I haven't played Half-Life (crap the border of the jungle since there are no modern games around), so I'm not voting.

Acmex
Actually, with the choices provided, It would be A (Alpha) Spring is nothing compared to OTA. Spring is nothing in itself. BA, on the other hand... E (Echo) BA >= OTA

There is no other game that lets you beat your goblin prisoners to within an inch of their life, then proceed to drop cats on them from ten stories up, and THEN drown them in a river. Of magma.
