Avi Files Won't Play

I had to buy a new copy of Rock Raiders because the one at my library is too scratched up to even install. The problem I'm having is that no AVI files will play, it just goes to the main menu. When I checked the program files, intro.avi, outro1.avi, and outro2.avi were all missing. I copied them off the disk and then I found out that all the AVI files from the disk, except for loop.avi, were just audio with no video. The game won't even play the audio from the files!

Nevermind, I forgot to look in the FAQ before posting.

EDIT: Just went to the link and found out that it couldn't find the download. I need that codec, but apparently it's gone.

EDIT 2: Found out that the codec was indeo 5.07. I just installed it. Now there's no need for this thread.

EDIT 3: Codec didn't work.

The files only contain audio but no video. They also won't play ingame. I don't need a new video player.

Did you at least try VLC? I dislike WMP as a video player.

What difference does it make? I'm just trying to get the videos to work INGAME.

Well, first you should check to see if they work in the first place.

Second, to they just not play and skip the whole scene, or is the video gone and only audio plays?

If I open the files outside of the game, only the audio plays, except for loop.avi, which has video. Ingame, the scenes are skipped completely.

Ah. I see now. Either something is wrong with your cfg, or the videos aren't in the right place.

Do you know what the cfg is named? Where are the videos supposed to go?

I just set it to 98/Me mode... and it works. And I went through all this trouble when all I needed to do was set it to compatability mode?! Wow...

Wait... how did these posts get merged together?

You tried to post when your post was the last on the list. It does that to limit post count, or something like that.

Anyways, I'm glad i couldn't help one bit. :)
