Buying Games Online

I've bought a few games online rather then at the shops, for 2 reasons. 1. Sometimes Cheaper 2. Don't have to drive to the shops. So since I bought from a few different sites I decided it would be a good idea to list the sites the offer digital game downloads that are good a legit so you too can buy games online when you wish.

1. Good Old Games - http://www.gog.com

This is my number choice of games. They don't have a lot of games and they only sell older games BUT the games come DRM free. This means there is no activation, no serial keys, no game registration and no copying/installation limits. The website is clean and simple, downloads are fast and I have been nothing but impressed with them.

2. Games Planet - http://www.gamesplanet.com

I have bought one game from them and that is Total Annilation. It's an alright site and seems organised. The games are DRM protected and you will have to activate you game when you install. However, me being smart and all ;) I copied all the TA files after activation and made my own installer so that it no longer has the DRM with it and I can copy/install it without limits.

3. Gamers Gate - http://www.gamersgate.com

I bought Prison Tycoon 4 from them today. The site looks nice and I am quite impressed so far. They have some of the latest games and games have DRM with activation. Registration and purchasing was fast and simple. When you goto download the game, you first download a download which then downloads then game(I never liked that concept... but hey).

So there you have it. Three good legit sites to buy games from to download. I will add more if I buy from anywhere else.

I have not added Steam because a) I won't buy from them. b) I don't agree with the Terms Of Service. Yes they are legit, but you truly never own the game you buy! You simply buy a license to play the game and you must have the Steam client installed to play it. It's a great idea but I would class it as a legal type of spyware. I want my games standalone!

Uhm, "we"?

Sorry Acmex, but we don't all have the same opinion.

When you download illegally, it's a choice. And if you feel ok with it, go on. It's your own responsibility. So I question the right of your removal of LZs post, Anon.

(I myself don't download illegal executables because of the virus risk.)

I don't know what the post contained, but if it had links or stuff to recommend piracy then it should be removed.

No point. I personally don't mind it, but I was just enforcing the Forum Rules, put into place by Cyrem, and made for being followed.
