Cyrem
Not really related to RR. Ok so I have this BMP. It is out of LR1 and in HEX it doesn't look like your ordinary BMP file. Infact I cannot find anything that can open it. So here is your challenge, to open this BMP. Note: All the BMP's in the game are not openable. So if you figure this out you might be able to open them all. <file removed>
TheDoctor
Hmmmm... Seems that the itouch isn't able to view it. I will look into this more... Wouldent it be funny if Cirevam could one-shot this?
Cirevam
Stop that Doctor. I tried a bunch of programs and a few other things and none of them worked. I remember encountering files like this before, though don't remember if I ever cracked them and how.
Lair
I'm guessing... It has something to something to do with Alien Ralley Asteroid, or one of the 2 racers (Alpha Dragonas and Gypsey Moth). Chances are that it isn't even a bitmap, rather than BMP meaning Bitmap, it means Bitmap-covered Moving Person. So I don't really know. But where are you getting these from, I'd like to do some snooping(as) around the game files.
TheDoctor
It would seem that trying to force rename it to a different file type does not work. I tried .PNG, .GIF, .JPEG, .SVG, .7z, .RAR, .DIB, and I looked at the hex. Nothing.
Lair
It could very well be a model or animation. Or map
PWNZOR
That could be any file type.....you can easily change the file extension on a file and say "it's not an ordinary bitmap".
Acmex
By all means it is NOT any form of image, the file command would have told me so. However, by this logic, then nothing I have installed can read this since I *think* it should be able to recognize anything that I can read/write. Therefore, it's a good chance its actually something like a model, or it IS a bitmap, but also contains data the file command/my image opener cannot load, ex, as the loader said, "This file has Bogus header data"
Cyrem
It is the most likely file to be an image since there are also other files ending in BMP called: BACKDRP, BUBBLE, LEG_GRN etc etc... All the other files contain more gibberish not readable by any known program. (Oddy there or 2 or 3 TGA files which work in there)
lol username
Wait, what is a TGA file exactly?
RockmoddeR
Targa...it's another image format.
lol username
Oh, got it. Huh, I don't remember seeing those textures in-game...
Cyrem
Oh, got it. Huh, I don't remember seeing those textures in-game... They look like just a few light effect images.
Cyrem
I've made a tad more progress. I found the HEX for the Width and Height of the image. Turns out the HEX was reversed.
