LockmanCapulet
what's the best screenshot software for Windows? I'm searching for a good one, any suggestions?
Fluffy Cupcake
I have heard about none of these except InfranView, but even that I have never tried.
TheDoctor
Seriously, why do you need software when you can do that with a button on your keyboard?
Cirevam
I've used SnagIt for some stuff but from my experience it's either crappy or my old computer didn't have the power to run it efficiently. I'd shy away from it if possible since it also has a bunch of unnecessarily complicated stuff too.

TheEPICtrainrider
Check your keyboard for anything that says prt sc. Then come back here and tell me, you might just need to use your [fn] key

TheDoctor
… so you found the button? Also, if you're not sure if it works or not, just spam combinations and see if anything pops up on the clipboard. Then start narrowing the combinations down. McJobless
What about poor Fraps?
bartvbl
honestly: I have the windows clipping tool in my quicklaunch. I click on it, drag an area, and save it. Done. With print screen you only copy the screendump onto the clipboard. You need to boot up extra software to save it. Lightweight clipping tools are the fastest IMO, so windows clipping is excellent. Kmlkmljkl
If you just want to have a picture of the active window instead, just press Alt+prt scr
