blizzars Posted May 13, 2010 Share Posted May 13, 2010 (edited) Hey guys Soo I found the game today and decided to try to play it, but like a lot of people here I'm having problems with trying to run it with Windows XP. I've tried pretty much everything that I've seen and still nothing. I've tried the Compatibility Administrator program, no luck. I"ve tried running the game in compatibility mode on XP, and no luck. The game manages to get the loading screen up, but after that there is an error message that comes up and the game crashes. I included an image of what comes up after the game "loads." aLPHA Posted May 13, 2010 Share Posted May 13, 2010 The game is broken or your computer is broken. I run XP and it runs fine. What color are you running? It requires 16 bit but it appears that you are some how running 256 color. Try to run the game with no compatibility enabled or anything else that you set. Even better, look at the system requirements of the game and compare it to your computer. What date and type of computer are you using? An older computer might not like LRR and will crash. blizzars Posted May 13, 2010 Author Share Posted May 13, 2010 Well that's what comes up after the loading screen. The game crashes then it heads to that screen. The reason it's in 256 colors is because under compatibility mode I have that on. I read somewhere that it runs on that so I tried turnin it on. I don't think my computer is broken since other games work with the cd drive. Before I tried running without any compatibility settings the loading screen would come up, then just went to the desktop without any message coming up. That's why I tried all these other settings. Either way, to get RR to work, I had to disable my onboard sound loader and just let windows run it with default MS sound drivers. For your case I would recommend a clean boot with only the default MS startup entries and services, and eliminate the third-party services one by one. This shouldn't be the problem. you sure it's not just 16-bit (65536 colours) mode? Because it always looks normal (that is, 16-bit) in the videos. It could be that it can't handle running XP and Rock Raiders. (well, more Rock Raiders part of it) If you have any newer computers, use them, otherwise, I'm clueless. I'm starting to think maybe my game disc is damaged some how, like Hydrogen said in the first post. Aki Dazrold Posted May 17, 2010 Share Posted May 17, 2010 Locate the folder RR is in. Do not use shortcut. Run the RR file, and a window should pop up. Select the software emulation option before you click ok. Your problem does not resemble mine, so this fix may not work for you, but it's is still worth a shot.
