Okay. So I decided to write a short non-RR story in a few weeks, just to keep myself busy. The story starts out with a guy on a train that's being robbed western style by... bad people. So he picks up a non-conventional melee weapon and fights them off.

Then I drew a blank. I couldn't decide on what weapon he should use. I don't want to repeat myself with the Crowbar or the Pipe wrench. And I find that sledge-hammers, lead pipes, and 2x4's are too bulky. Then I remembered you guys who have probably dealt with more materials then I have. So peoples, any ideas?

Rebar perhaps? It might be hard to hold without gloves but it's heavy enough. It's also small enough to fit in a bag. Maybe a depleted fire extinguisher, since all trains now will have one somewhere. A full one, not a depleted one. It's just that I don't want it depressurizing in the protagonist's face.

Rebarb might work, but a fire-extinguisher... meh. It might work... but I would rather use it in a situation where there's a locked door, a gun, a fire extinguisher and a roll of duck tape. Or something like that. But good idea though.

Hmm...on a train...maybe a loose/broken part of a rail from above the seats where the baggage goes...or maybe he finds one of those cylinders for containing documents like in National Treasure (the thing that they ran around with the declaration of independence in)... try to keep it relevant as far as object on a train go.

Considering this is a Non-Conventional train. I wouldn't think to much of "it has to be on a train". Here, I'll use Rebarb as an example.

Scott got up from his spot. The man with a pistol yelled "I SAID SIT IN YOUR SEAT!" shooting at Scott's feet. He fell over into another seat, where he landed on his stomach. Scott curled his legs out of the isle. He thought fast "I need a weapon, I'll take anything as long as I can use it to defend myself". Scott stared at the floor. He then saw something long and with a rusty tint under the seat across from him. Scott quietly reached for it, trying not to alert the man with the gun. He grabbed it to find it was very heavy, with ribs and a bend in the end of it; like a hook.

I think I can work almost anything onto a train, as long as it isn't like, I don't know, and chainsaw?

Guys, those things wouldn't be on the kind of train he's referring to...(unless it's a freight train carrying those objects which I doubt it is). I'll take the kitty Zephyr. Joe, ditch the purse for the dictionary you're holding and let me deal with the anchor and the photo album, I'll put them in the new backpack you just gave me.

PVC pipe filled with concrete.

Also, bamboo spear.

Or, therotically, you could pull a MacGyver with a piece of metal inside a map/rolled up newspaper.

Guitar would be nice.

YES!

Rebarb

That just gave me an excellent idea. A STICK OF RHUBARB :af:

THE LID OF A TOILET TANK

Not that good, but not bad either :D

I thought of something, an then I thought of the setting in which it would be usable.

Bad guys start slashing peoples bags looking for valuables, right? Lets assume one of these bags belongs to someone traveling. Let's also assume said owner is a woman who brings a lot more than she needs to.

And finally, let's assume there is a clothes iron in this bag.

8D ?
