Planet U

I just wanted to clear up a bit of information that I keep seeing around the forum that's been bugging me. People say that Planet U was the nearest planet to the L.M.S. Explorer when they scanned the system. This is not true. The nearest planet to the LMS was an orange-red planet on the scan, but later in the video when they scan for EC's, the green* planet was the one that turned up the richest in the system and they teleported to it to mine.

Skip to 3:00 to see which planet is planet U.

The RR's didn't land on Planet U because it was the nearest and most convenient planet to mine resources, they went across the system to the planet that was rich with the stuff. >.>

This also means that the "green" planet wasn't green because of native flora, but rather the abundance of green crystals on the planet.

*Lair, please link to this in your science topic

This is very well thought out and I agree woth you completely

although anyone that tried could have figured this out, I just thought that everyone knew this

I would like to point out that in the first scene there are 2 red planets but the second scene has 2 green planets. In fact, it appears that the planet they were next to WAS the same planet. HOWEVER, if green DOES mean energy crystals, then there was another planet closer to the sun that also has crystals.

OBJECTION! Look at the color of the six planets at 2:40. Red, green, blue, magenta, cyan, and orange. Then look at the colors of the planets at 3:00. I see red, green, blue, magenta, cyan, and green? Here's a comparison shot:

Planet 3 is partially obscured in the second shot but it is visible for a few frames. Now look at all of the planets in relation to each other. The LMS Explorer starts at Planet 5, the orange planet. Later, Planet 5 turns green and is revealed to be the planet that the Rock Raiders travel to in order to mine. The relative positions of the planets do not change, ergo, Planet 5, the orange planet, is Planet U.

I rest my case.

This kinda reminds me of that topic I made where we were trying to name all the other planets in the Planet U system, that was fun.

Good find, we never did get this settled untill you made this topic.

theextractor

so are we assuming that the other planets are rich in other colored energy crystals, or some other type of resource?

i love the music in this video, too bad it wasn't in the game. well, i could always just listen to the video but that awful lego grunting language kind of ruins it.

I don't think they would be full of resources because the scanners didn't even say if the was even the smallest amount of crystals found on them

I know the video was made to do that but any real scanner would have shown just a little bit of indication that there were crystals on the other planets

It might have just ignored all the other planets since Planet U was closest. However, it is safe to assume that Planet U is the most energized. What lies out there is unknown.

Could someone give me a link to that map Baz made of Planet U's system? One that works?

Ok, this is slightly off topic, but at least to me, Chief seems to have been to Planet U before. I base this theory off of the inquisitive "gutterance" at 2:40 and Chief's facial expressions at 2:48 to 2:50, as well as the game manual stating that he has encountered Rock Monsters before in his youth and the assumption that Rock Monsters are native exclusively to Planet U.

I never thought of it that way

I guess that could explain how there are RMs on earth (They could have hid on the ship after it left Planet U)
