Purple Crystals?

Maybe some people haven't played that level in several years.

I think you hit the nail on the head, I hadn't touched LRR for years before I decided to find out if there were mods for it (and consequently found this place). Since I've been a member here, I've used -testlevels at all times and can't say that I've ever played FF at all... if I have then it probably crashed and I didn't bother trying again.

Anyways, radiant energy seems interesting. The crystals could act like energy sponges, then monsters could extract the energy. The crystals could be recharged through a sort of energy osmosis, so as long as the seam has enough energy. Of course, I have no idea how all of that would work... then again, I'm just throwing my thoughts out there in case someone can make sense of it.

Radiant energy would follow your reasoning that purple would be the most powerful and red the least. You could even say that there are crystals outside the visible spectrum that we may not know of. It would also mean that a crystal that has been drained of energy would lack radiant energy and therefore appear a darker shade of the original color where absolute zero leaves you with a black or clear (with perhaps some tint produced by the matter of the crystal itself) crystal. This would agree with the black crystals seen in the videos after the slugs drained green crystals.

However the problem here is how do you "drain" radiant energy? There's no control valve on the sun that we can manipulate to increase/decrease the energy output, so how can a slug drain a crystal until it has little to no radiant energy left?

I think that might be enough to rule out the radiant energy as the source energy used by the LRR's. That leaves the two known electrical and chemical energies as a possible alternative, but as this is sci-fi I'm leaving room for an unknown energy type.

I'm still leaning towards electricity being the type of energy that's used by the LRR's due to chemical properties and the solar environment.

Purple Energy Crystals are ones that have been drained of Power.

[...]

Recharge Seams can turn them into normal crystals again.

Some advice here:

-If you can't find a recharge seam nearby, there's probably no recharge seam, so don't use mining lasers for obvious reasons...

-It's always useful to set the recharge energy crystal priority somewhere above "Construction", so you don't run out of crystals mid-way. Also useful as your RRs will (sometimes?) try to finish a building before recharging the ECs when the building needs some ECs.

ORIGINAL SEAMS:

- Rock Hard has 2 in the first cavern.

- Hot Stuff has 2 near your base.

- Rocky Horror has one. Go up the tunnel to the right. I usually move my base here.

I usually set Recharge as Priority 1 on all levels. Even though only 2 have useful seams. Lol.

There are only 3 levels with recharge seams?

...

DDI fails again.

Frozen Frenzy

I always thought the TT had to be modded in. Just checked 09.ol and the TT is listed there.... but frankly I don't recall ever seeing it.

That Is because it is your objective

I am powered by decay heat from a radioactive alloy that includes trituim from Energy Crystals, so my laser doesn't consume the trituim from the Energy Crystals, it just makes use of otherwise wasted energy.

The other lasers are chemical in nature. Slugs can use electrosynthisis using the air and what they have stored inside themselves to make food, but typiclly they use chemosynthisis like deep sea organisms by hydrothermal vents to make food.

That would be considered spam and abuse of quotes. Even with the current limit, I think some people still abuse the quote system a little bit (as in unnecessary quotes).

Well, this is about purple crystals so to get back on topic...

Monsters seem to have some sort of priority in their AI.

1. Eat green crystals

2. Destroy buildings

3. Eat purple crystals

4. ?

Yes, monsters do eat purple crystals, but does it give them bad gas?

Yeah. I got a tool store and alot of crystals. I then fired off alot of lasers and made all of the crystals be purple. I then teleported out the toolstore so that the crystals were left. I used debug key E on a nearby wall and a monster came out and ate all of the purple crystals.

How could someone go about decoding the AIs anyways?

Is there a way to change them into letters and numbers that that a human could interpret?

O.T.

I know!!! We can get TMLC to explain all this to us. He is so obviously an AI on a vehicle with a laser.

There's an unused animation of a mashup between a Rock and Ice monster farting and giggling. Besides, if they don't have anuses then they can burp it up.

Wait, no, the Power Miner monsters do that.

Just from looking at the names, I think it's parp.lws. The monster is pretty cool, so if you can make it LRR-compatible it might make for a good new monster.
