The Mad Scientist
Hello all! I've built with legos for as long as I can remember, and this website rekindled my interest in Rock Raiders (the best theme by far, imho) Anywho, I was always intrigued by the design of the LMS Explorer, and since playing the game, I had always wondered if it could be built brick-for-brick as it appears in the opening movie. I have figured out, sadly, that this cannot be done, because it is not entirely Lego. HOWEVER, by using Lego Digital Designer, I have found a way to closely match it's design. Keep in mind that this is only the beginning, (I have yet to construct the bridge, engines, radar and details) but here is a basic idea of what I'm building: Please reply if you are interested, or have comments, criticisms, etc. Edited October 4, 2019 by Slimy Slug
Cirevam
This is a great first post, and a great start to what will be a truly magnificent creation. Welcome to RRU.
Lair
Brilliant. I have figured out, sadly, that this cannot be done, because it is not entirely Lego. It's not? I knew the little building on top and a lot of stuff on top was, but I did not know this. Also, how do you do that? I once tried making some big LMS stuff but never got far becuase it got too slow.
The Mad Scientist
Why Thank You! It's not? I knew the little building on top and a lot of stuff on top was, but I did not know this. Also, how do you do that? I once tried making some big LMS stuff but never got far becuase it got too slow. It has lego textures, but in order to actually make it the exact shape out of legos would require some changing to the bricks themselves. (e.g.: the Engines) Not to say that is impossible, though. I'm figuring out alot as I go, so who knows? Also, another reason I posted was to inquire if any of you fine gentlemen know where I could find some floor plans for the bridge. Cirevam
I know someone around here has started recreating the bridge, but I can't remember who. It has been a while, so the picture links are likely dead due to the forum cleanup. If you find them, go to this topic and- Wait a second. There's the link I was talking about: The pictures were uploaded via the old uploader, so they may be dead permanently, but if Cyrem can repost them then you'll have a good reference. I find this highly amusing. At any rate, there's the LMS Plan... whenever it's reuploaded

Tauka Usanake
I have to say that's a good design there. I just started looking over the intro for LRR again. The impossibility of getting a perfect scale is there, but not really because everything is not made of LEGOs. There are some scale differences I believe with the hull and extras to the Explorer compared to real LEGO bricks. And If it's to be a perfect as much scale or the Explorer then you would have to start with the bridge, an area that has proper scaled bricks, and build around that. What if the floor plans are correct and your current design is too big/small? Otherwise it's an awesome recreation. If only LEGO had proper bricks to construct it out of then it would be perfect. Tracker
Uh Goob, what you just did got me in DEEP trouble (when I did it) with Cirevam. Don't do it again, or Cirevam will be on your rear end for trying to revive a dead topic that has already been buried.
Cirevam
Tauka's post was made on December 24. Goob's post was made today, January 16. That's less than a month. Typically, I start to care when the last post was made over a month ago, but if it's a constructive post, I leave it be.
