iron
Hi, I'm a new member and have installed Rock Raiders on my laptop (Vista), works ok until I put down a sonic blaster then shuts down the game. Any suggestions would be gratefully recieved, a truly brilliant game that I am looking forward to finishing again. Iron
aLPHA
Oh, hi cousin! Vista doesn't like old games. Particle effects in old games definitely is something vista doesn't like. Could you try to install it on a different system?
Sonic322
I think that is a glitch in the game that we can't fix. Sorry I suggest you don't use the Sonic Blaster.
Amauros
I'll have to test if I have the same problem or not (I simply don't use sonic blasters), but your problem may be solved by adjusting your gfx card's settings.
TheDoctor
Its a weird glitch. On my my unmodded versions it crashed the game, but on some of my modded versions it works like it should. I think its fickle like the laser drain glitch.
Amauros
I didn't know there was a laser drain glitch lol
Sonic322
The laser drain glitch is when you use a handheld laser and it drains all of your energy crystals. I have never experienced either of these glitches so I only know them from reading about other people who have problem with the game.
aLPHA
I also have never experienced these glitches.
Lair
Hey. Sorry, the Sonic Blasters are infected with dynamite. Its a weird glitch. On my my unmodded versions it crashed the game, but on some of my modded versions it works like it should. I think its fickle like the laser drain glitch. That. Really, it's wierd. I don't know if I have it or if I did. But I remember the laser drain. laptop (Vista) Ugh. Windows Vista sucks. Windows 7 is far better, and I think most people here think things like Linux and such are better than Windows. So Vista. Pffft. Anyways, do some random crap and see if that gets you to make it work. Cirevam
I have a Vista laptop and Sonic Blasters don't crash my game. I think it's about time we stop blaming the OS for these glitches and start looking at these on a case-by-case basis.

I mean I agree with you but stiiiilllllll. Viiiisssttaaaaaaaaaahhhhh. I actually have virtually no problems with vista. The only thing that ever goes wrong is occasionally the HP program that runs the touch buttons (play, FF, RW, and volume controls etc) will max out the CPU for no reason and I have to terminate the program from the taskmanager... but that's an HP problem not an OS problem. Addictgamer
I've experienced this glitch on one of my laptops. I managed to stop it by doing the following: Play around with CLGlen.exe's options, and, if that doesn't work, try out this: Point of focus being the selected device. doc
I've experienced this glitch on one of my laptops. I managed to stop it by doing the following: Play around with CLGlen.exe's options, and, if that doesn't work, try out this: Point of focus being the selected device. I'm sorry but with my computer that doesn't work. I had the same glitch too, but I managed to play the whole game without sonic blaster :docs:
The Brigadier
Make sure that your LRR installation directory is in "C:Program FilesLEGO MediaGamesRock Raiders" first. Then, go to your LRR shortcut on your Desktop, go to compatability, and change it it Windows 98/ME. That should work.
RRChief
Have u tried tweaking the compatibility of the game to different OSs?
The Brigadier
Have u tried tweaking the compatibility of the game to different OSs? Yes, Windows 2000. Long story short, the Sonic Blasters would still crash the game, as would transporting the Cargo Carrier. Windows 98/ME will play perfectly, but will require administrator permission for no apparent reason. :af:
ExtremeDude2
I think its fickle like the laser drain glitch. So THAT'S why I keep losing my crystals! Anyone know a fix? (I'm doing an LP so it would be helpful ) Perhaps compatibility mode or just using a different laser?
Cirevam
I wonder if making a custom Sonic Blaster animation would fix this problem. My custom dynamite doesn't seem to crash the game so it's a good alternative. I haven't ever bothered with the Sonic Blaster because I find it so useless and clunky to use, but if I can make it stop crashing people's games, I'll do something about it. Oboe Shoes
The Sonic Blaster crash has affected my game for years now... I'd gladly try an animation fix if you ever end up making one.
