karsten
I know we are not getting the GODS Game Engine or LRR Source Code. But what if we had it? I mean what are the limits now because we do not have the source code and engine?
Addictgamer
It probably wouldn't help very much. First off, to change the hardcoded stuff, we'd need to be able to compile the source. This requires a compile that supports that code, all the same exact versions of the required libraries, and possibly windows 95/98. In other words, very hard and unlikely. Second off, only help I see it giving us is finding new variables and the like, and seeing what is and isn't hard coded. Third off, if we got it compiled somehow, who's gonna take the time to improve the source??? There are likely millions of lines of code. Changing one thing will probably break everything. You're best off rewriting LRR from scratch. So, if we got LRR's source, it'd be moderately useful. Actually, looking at the title, you're talking about the engine. Getting that would be useless. Cyrem
If we got the engine, it would be useless other then for information purposes. If we got the LRR source and GODS engine, it would still be useless other then for informational purposes. You are not legally allowed to compile a distribute a new version, not even DDI would be allowed to do this now.
karsten
Mmm, we just need to remake LRR with UNREAL Engine i think the older versions of that Engine are free and then build it up from scratch lol? Uhm but who got the time and knowledge......

You are not legally allowed to compile a distribute a new version, not even DDI would be allowed to do this now. This is exactly the point that was mentioned on the IRC evening I had with one of the DDI developers. He said it wouldn´t need that much time to update LRR with the new versions of their engine but it wouldn´t be legal as Lego dropped the project as well as the distribution and the support. Mmm, we just need to remake LRR with UNREAL Engine i think the older versions of that Engine are free and then build it up from scratch lol? Uhm but who got the time and knowledge...... You could use the UDK for free (Unreal Engine 3) that´s also the reason why big game studios like gearbox, bungie, sony computer entertainment, phanomic etc. are hiring Unreal Engine specialists.
