Sharkly
About a week ago I wrote this: Dear LEGO®: My name is Marcus Bizal. I am emailing to inquire about possibly getting some information on how, and where the brick geometry data for the LEGO® Universe is stored. I am looking into making a free and open source LEGO® engine. All credit will be given to the LEGO® Group, and I am willing to agree to any terms and conditions that may apply. I am not part of a business or organization, I am purely a LEGO® enthusiast looking to help bring my love for LEGO® to others. If this is not the right address for this email if you could please direct me to the correct address it would be much appreciated. Thank you very much ahead of time. Kind regards, Marcus J. Bizal Today I received this reply: Dear dr_marc ., Brick Buddy Taasne has a message for you. Thank you for being patient while we look into this for you. As stated in the EULA and TOS, we will not be able to provide you with any information about the Brick Geometry or any other codes/date surrounding LEGO Universe as you requested. If you have any more questions, please contact us again. LEGO Universe Support team Needless to say, I am very disappointed. That email was very unprofessional, a bit harsh, and very unhelpful. LEGO just lost a few points. Thanks for reading, Marc
Cirevam
As a customer, you're expected to know what's in the EULA and ToS. As a business, LEGO won't give away a portion of the game's core for free to someone without good reason. A fan-made game or engine is not a good reason, and it could detract from LU sales if it becomes popular enough. As for unprofessionalism, they basically told you that you would have been able to answer your own question if you read the documents.
Sonic322
Dear dr_marc ., This is what threw me off. I mean did they get a monkey to replay to this?
