Discussion Of The United States Financial Issues

Due to the massive derailment in the anti-virus topic, I've taken the liberty of making this topic. I've moved some posts into this topic as a way to clean things up.

The Ben Bernake has almost ALL of our debt, which at last count 117 trillion!

WRONG!

http://www.usdebtclock.org/

As of January 11, 2011, the US National Debt is around $14.027 trillion and change. Quit making up numbers.

We're screwed.

Prepare for global economic collapse.

US Total Debt includes Household, Business, State and Local Governments, Financial Institutions, and The Federal Government.

We still can't pay for it.

Scroll down.

Look at US Total Debt.

55 Trillion.

Go to bottom of page.

US Unfunded Liablities: 112 Trillion

*facepalm*

OH WAIT, THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE.

Wow. Major derail.jpg here huh guys? -.-

Yes we do.

We do have a major screw up.

Two subjects, one of which is pretty limited, the other a little less limited, both in the right place, so to speak.

As long as they stay foused, there is little reason to split them apart, as one came from the other and they're both on barrowed time.

I don't get it.

Why doesn't the government (United States) just start paying off the debt?

I know it will take years but if we don't start then the only way I see on getting rid of the debt is to completely collapse the United States government and then set up a brand new government with all the same names, history, constitution but with a debt of $0.00¢

That was mostly a joke because I don't think the rest of the world would like us weaseling out of the debt like that.

I do believe this topic is dead or dying, which is what I meant by "on borrowed time."

And why I saw little reason for it to be created in the first place.

And the derailment was in very slow motion, which is probably why no one saw it until they did.

It took at least eight posts for some one to catch it. Twelve at best, as it started to cross the line at "Chinese Invasion."

It was massive, and like all things so, it was slow.

Let me show you how much of a problem the Chinese are: For fifteen (15!) minutes, all DoD traffic was rerouted through Chinese severs.

--------------------------------

Furthermore, both you and TMLC take this somewhere else. If you want to talk about China, do so in some other forum. If you want to talk about whether counter-hacking should/shouldn't be illegal, do so in some other forum. This topic is about anti-malware programs, not counter-hacking or China or anything else.

Here was the first alarm bell.

And now this post is getting close to the line, yet I can't quite see it crossing it, does any one disagree? I know Cirevam is going to have a cow when he sees this.

On what grounds can you say that this topic (as a separate topic from the Best Anti-Virus Software topic) is "dead or dying"?

Why doesn't the government (United States) just start paying off the debt?

As much as the Government would want to, they need the money to keep whats left of the USA intact. If the sippen of any money to the rest of the world to start paying off debts, it will ruin Americas economy.

Take a look, you'll see in so many departments that everything is under-financed/under-staffed as it is. Removing more money will kill the USA faster. The only way it can get better is if the White House finds a massive deposit of petrolium on the front lawn which they can sell to the rest of the polluting world to start bringing more money back in.

Now that you look at it, the USA was sort of doomed from when they started...

We were doing fine before we became a welfare state.

Now that you look at it, the USA was sort of doomed from when they started...

The founding fathers predicted some of the troubles we're encountering right now and put in measures to prevent that from the very beginning. Massive inflation is one such trouble, which was to be prevented by the gold standard... and it worked. Then idiots took us off the gold standard and inflation took off. Over five years you can watch the value of the dollar go down if you compare it to gold. It's ridiculous, and it's made even worse by the fact that interest rates are practically nil because the Federal Reserve has so much money just sitting there doing nothing. Let's not also forget that $600 billion was put into the reserve a few months ago. It did nothing to the economy, positively or negatively. We're in a liquidity trap right now. Overall, the value of the dollar is going down because too much money is being created, and savings are losing value because interest rates are lower than the inflation rate (less than 1% compared to around 3%).

Of course, if your money is worth less tomorrow, it's better to spend it today, right? Unfortunately, consumer confidence is so low that no one wants to spend. I think people got tired of that since sales during the 2010 holiday season were unusually high compared to the past few years, but I suspect they're paying on credit. So... what do we do? We're sweating right now.

Oh, and gas prices are predicted to hit $5.00/gal this summer and everyone is complaining. Maybe that will make people consider more efficient routes and carpooling. We have the cheapest gasoline in the world, so we should make the most of it.

So long as you don't consider those stupid clown cars I'm okay with it. If someone gets into a wreak inside an electric car they are dead. Can we consider that survival of the fittest?

Prepare for a total economic collapse by stocking up on supplies such as ammunition, food and water, as what is left of social organization will go with it and there may be no money for soup kitchens. And when we go down others will begin to default, resulting in global economic collapse. (Crapola.)

I just noticed that Tracker started an argument between him and sonic, and then went back on topic again.

I smell a troll.

Oh, and to everyone out there that just wants to argue to me:

Go and cry in the corner.

Clown cars... while I agree with the stupidity behind their designs, they could be used effectively if the proper alternative energy sources were promoted. Wind energy screws up the climate in other areas that rely on wind to bring precipitation and such in. Tidal energy similarly has a negative impact on ocean currents, but not as many tidal generators have been constructed. Hydrogen is a big no, since it takes more energy to separate oxygen and hydrogen than whatever energy the hydrogen will output. We already know the effects of hydroelectric dams and nuclear plants. Solar energy is no-consequence energy. The sun is always there, and at most you're taking heat away from a few small locations. Big deal. If the gov subsidized solar panel R&D and construction, every house in the country could be running on solar energy within 15 years. Now to get back on track.

From there, people could charge their electric clown cars for free and drive FOR FREE. Remote charging stations would be able to rake in revenue as they could charge very little per kilowatt/hour (check my units here) and still make profit because they aren't paying a dime to supply the energy. Range could be extended with more solar panels on top of the clown cars. Oil would still be used for applications like plastics or for things that can't be converted to electricity (military vehicles).

Of course, I don't know what's really right for the country or the economy, so all of this could be just as wrong as what's going on now.

You hit one of the many nails on the head, and for more details go to John Galt or Carl Denninger, who is at The Market Ticker.

I'd still go nuclear, I can get useful radio isotopes from it.

  1. Why are you even posting in this topic?
  2. All you ever do in this topic is talk about how the U.S. is failing or how the topic is being derailed. (By you I might add.)
  3. STOP POSTING THAT [Please Talk Properly]ING TRAIN ALREADY >:(
  4. It is really annoying and you have no reason to post it other then derailing a topic.
  5. What use are radioactive isotopes to you?
Now back on topic.

The U.S. should create a test city.

One that uses things like solar panels and other ways of alternative energy.

And if the numbers are good on that city then we could start putting solar panels on all buildings.

Careful, quoting a large post like that just to highlight a single line and to respond with a single word isn't very efficient.
