Pyro
While playing the game on my old windows XP computer, apparently on "advanced" mode, when I start the game, many of the sounds (button/mouse effects, the effects for when rock raiders put down ore or energy crystals, the idle sounds for vehicles, the voices when you mouse over objects and menu items, and a lot of other stuff) won't play, but rarely they will. At first I thought this was the difference between "advanced" and the other version, but on the wiki it says that the difference it purely graphical, and it won't play even if I use the "advanced" shortcut with -best at the end of the target field. In the FAQ it says there's also a problem with the music not playing; does the game even have music other than the songs on the main menu and level complete screen? I haven't heard any. So, does anyone know what the problem is? Is there a solution?
Cirevam
In the FAQ it says there's also a problem with the music not playing; does the game even have music other than the songs on the main menu and level complete screen? I haven't heard any. The music tracks are read from a Red Book audio CD (which means it can be used in a CD player) and are not stored in files within the Data folder or within the WADs, and are only defined as a number of tracks in the CFG. The menu and reward screen music files are the opposite: they exist in the Data folder and are specifically defined in the CFG. This allows me to put in any audio CD while I'm playing and listen to just about anything while in the caverns. Now, if you have the original disk and are playing the game with the disk in your computer, you should be hearing the music... As for your other problem, I can only say that I've encountered similar problems with my modded game. Sometimes the sound cuts out completely, and other times it won't play for the first twenty seconds of a mission. If I knew how to fix it I would tell you, but unfortunately I don't know how yet. I'm running it with the disk in my computer, but I don't hear any music, though I'm not sure what to look for. Your problem with mods sounds different, as it's just the music cutting out entirely. Keep in mind this is a completely unmodded version.
Pyro
Hey, guys, anyone want to help me?
Pyro
I've fixed it by running it on a different computer, so it isn't a problem anymore. Edit: The old computer was ancient, and had 4% hard drive space left, which might have been the problem.
