Pyro
How do I use it? It says on the wiki it needs to be in 16-bit mode, which I've done, but I don't know where to go from there. I imagine it's a launch parameter thing, but I don't know what it is. Can anyone help me?
TheDoctor
There are actually two ways to do this. First, you need to be in 16 bit color mode, which you seem to be able to do. From there, you can either take "-best" out of the shortcut for RR, or replace it with "-windowed", no quotes of course. The former will give you a prompt to choose fullscreen or windowed, and the later will start running it in windowed mode. You can try both and use which ever one you like. Pyro
And that won't affect the graphics? Edit: It's tiny. Now I have to decide between it being stretched out and it being tiny?
PWNZOR
And that won't affect the graphics? Edit: It's tiny. Now I have to decide between it being stretched out and it being tiny? Yeah, it's tiny. But it's the same resolution. This way, you can switch easily between multiple applications and whatnot. Very useful for, say, taking screenshots or videos. You can also easily close out of a level in the game this way rather than wait through the quit button's exit teleportation animation, then go through the menu. Cirevam
The game was designed around the 640x480 resolution. Attempts to make it bigger just mess things up, and parts of the interface can't be edited. Unfortunately, you don't have much of a choice with the resolution, unless you change the aspect ratio options of your display. I don't like having black bars on the side of the game, so I just let it stretch.
Pyro
Okay, cool. Thanks, guys. You're all awesome.
TheDoctor
I have to vouch for windowed mode for a couple reasons. 1, normally I'm testing something and want to be able to use programs besides RR, like Skype or Opera. 2, it lets you take more than one screenshot per launch. 3, for some reason, letting it go fullscreen always messed up my desktop shortcuts. I hated having to rearrange them every time they got messed up. 4, when I used my laptop, it had a 1366x768 resolution (same as Cirevam's), so the stretch wasn't so bad. Now, I have a 1600x900 monitor, so it gets pulled apart more. Like Cirevam said, if the small window bothers you, change your screen resolution to 1024x768 or 800x600 or something like that. I actually have a tool that can do that for you. I'll whip up a few batch files and upload them in a day or two.
Pyro
You mean that'll launch the game and switch the screen resolution? That'd be awesome.
Pyro
I just noticed that the 'compatibility' in the properties tab has an option for a 640x480 resolution, but it's stretched out like when I run it normally. How do I get it to add black bars so it's not?
