Addictgamer
1. Really. What's so great about RR? 2. Why did you look at the disk and say, "Ah, I'll give it a try"? 3. Why did you like RR after trying? 4.Who do you still!!!!! like RR? What's kept you addicted all these years? Or, in some cases, readdicted you? 5. Why do we put such effort into modding and improving RR? 6. Why do we bother looking at this old game? Why don't we throw it in the trash and go play "better" games? Please answer every question as best you can. "I don't know, I just like it", for example, would be an acceptable answer...But it is definitely not preferred. CTXXTC
1. Its an original game and not one of those rip-offs 2. I did not intend on buying it, I got it as a present, deciding not to waste it I gave it a go. 3. Same as #1. 4. I damaged my original disc which upset me very much, I kept watching videos of it on YouTube until I came across a disc of it in my local PC world. 5. To see new lengths in this game, also now that Karl is here there could be awesome mods. 6. Cyrem
sciguy
I love legos, computers, and video games. I saw the game and wanted to play it. It is fun to play, and once the suite of modding progs are done, it will be a lot more fun. And for the rest, im a kid at heart. I cant really explain it all. But it is a fun game, and with a good level of moddability. Therein lies all my answers to all the questions.
Cirevam
1. EVERYTHING except the AI. 2. My brothers got Rock Raiders and Lego Racers for their birthday, and we typically shared our games around that time. I tried it because it was already there and I wouldn't have lost anything if I didn't like it. 3. It's a unique game. I had not seen an RTS combined with a mining game like this before, and the closest modern game is heavily text based. 4. I like quality games. I still play older games because they were made well and provide significant entertainment. They are also typically challenging, which is something I don't like about modern games: either they hold your hand or they're frustrating. Not difficult, like F-Zero GX, which I've been playing for years. I mean frustrating like GTA San Andreas, where drive halfway across the map to pick up someone to drive them to another side of the map only to make one small mistake and flip the car, then watching as the person you were chauffeuring dies in the explosion. OVER AND OVER AGAIN. And there's no strategy involved. It's just "drive here and don't frost up, then shoot these guys and don't get hit." 5. If we can make the game more fun than it was in 1999, then it's worth it. 6. Oh please. Most modern games pale in comparison to ones made a decade ago in terms of gameplay. The gaming industry now thinks that most gamers have such a short attention span that they can't even count to twelve, so we get dozens of shallow games, including slews of cardboard-cutout FPS games. Others are based on or are built like movies, so there's little point in actually playing. Then there's the reliance on online multiplayer, which means developers will put less effort into the single player. Zephyria

You could pass for Yahtzee! anyway 1) The fact that was EXRTREMELY addicting when I was younger' 2) It was a Lego game. Back when I was younger, Lego was "Teh crap" 3) I Kept trying because it was Addicting 4) I really don't play it all that much anymore.. 5) We do it because It's classic. It needed new life. 6) Because. It's Lego. LEGO wins. .

Is it simply because you've found better games? Or has RR "lost it's control over you"?

Tracker
It has heavily influenced me. Example: Gamertag: Raiderzulu I doubt I will "lose" it completely. From it came Project GPV, a "devolpment program" for my personal transport. I chose the MTT for my PT, so Project GPV was born to determine how to make work. The only problem left: range 50 gal will not take you very far. There were no prototypes built, if you were wondering, as most of the basic problems could be worked mentaly. It was the first "use" of reverse steering, which developed to explain the SD and STT steering. The AIV came from it as well. Fuel tanks on the roof, sides, and under side. RockRaider
1. This. 2. My dad bought when it came out in 1999, so it's his fault. As for me liking it, see #1. 3. Again, see #1. 4. Well as per #1, I can't play anymore sadly, but my pickyness in respect to 'modern' games results in me playing these old games longer than the average person would. In fact, all the games I play with exception to SoaSE (which I've gotten bored of after playing a half dozen times) are at least 7 years old. 5. Because of the various reasons stated before my post, and others not mentioned, we're interested in the game. Therefore, when we see there's problems with it, we wanna fix it. Hence ORR was born. 6. McJobless
1. The "immense" (laughs) moddabillity. 2. It was free from my parents. 3. Because I had never played the genre before so it was good to try something new. 4. Bordem, Lego and a random what to perform a 3 minifigure genicide at times 5. Because we can, and because I look forward to bombarding RR's with AirStrike Mod 6. Because newer games don't have a soul, they are just money-pinching schemes used by e...oh wait... Sonic322
1. The style of the game was just awesome when I first played it. 2. It had LEGO stuff on it. 3. I love things where you build stuff. 4. I always got back into this game after a while and the reason I joined this site was to finally figure out if those fake cheats where real. 5. Because the game is so modifiable and there are so many secrets that we have discovered. 6. For the nostalgia and because it was one of the first games I played that was a real challenge. When I first put the disc into the computer and saw it loading then I wanted to know more about how it got from the disc to my computer and I wanted to know more about everything about computers. aLPHA
1. It's modability is very good. Never played a game that was so easy to mod. 2. I got it as a gift when I was like 7 or something. First thing a 7 year old will do when they get a game is play it. 3. I liked the gameplay and the 3D effects 4. Rock Raiders United. After looking for cheats for the game, I stumbled upon this site, and I got re-addicted. 5. Because it had great potential, and a game THAT modable deserves to be continuously improved upon. 6. Because the "better" games are anti-modding or something.
lol username
1 - I'm not terribly into it, honestly. I play every once in a while, but I'm not a huge fan or anything. 2 - I got it in a pack with a ton of other LEGO games, including LEGO Island and LEGO Chess, when I was pretty young. I left it in the paper sleeve for a half a year or so and never tried it until my cousin found it and installed it. 3 - I enjoyed playing with my cousin, we would take turns commanding the RRs, and once we figured out how to upgrade them we named them and split them up into two groups, one for each of us. We really wished there was multiplayer of some sort so we didn't have to keep taking turns with the raiders. 4 - It's a LEGO game I have. Therefor, I play it every two months minimum. It's more or less required to retain "LEGO nerd" status. 5 - I don't mod it so I don't know. 6 - See my answer to 4.
Lair
1. It's a mining game in a mysterious world. It has Lego, Scifi, strange creatures, an adventure, etc. 2. It was pakaged with Lego Island, lego creator and Lego Chess. Something caught my eye about it. 7 months later it was still the only game I played. 3. The playability and adventure was good. 4. It's fun, you can build stuff, explore, etc. 5. Because it's 6. BECAUSE BETTER GAMES NOW ARE RARE
je007
1. Strategy game. Game centered around collecting resources and building up your base, not combat 2. I saw my friend playing it. It seemed fun. He gave it to me on the spot. 3. It wasn't too hard and it was a type of game that I had never seen, let alone tried before. 4. Game centered around collecting resources and building a base, not combat. Cool vehicles. More of a struggle to get resources than in most other games; you have to actively acquire them. 5. Because of #1, #4, and the fact that it IS moddable. 6. It is the only game that can run on my computer with a decent framerate*. *well, now that I think about it, Heroes of Might and Magic III runs good, but it gets boring single player. RockmoddeR
1) I'm an RTS gamer by heart, and RR was one of the first games that showed me what an RTS was. That, and it was Lego. Contrary to the standard, I played the game THEN bought the sets rather than the other way around. 2) There was no "give it a try." I was looking forward to playing it the day I reserved it at my library. 3) I liked how you could build a base upon itself, bigger and bigger, and teleport vehicles. Teleporting is always cool. I also like the ambient environments, the sound effects, and the voiceovers. 4) Nostalgia, ease of moddability, certain synaptic triggers that trigger memories upon certain ingame events...lol. 5) We're Veteran raiders, we take pride in our game, we won't let it die. That, and it's cool to see your work in a game. 6) This IS a "better game," if not to the rest of the gaming world. It has a particular style about it that makes it a classic, replayable and entertaining.

There's a standard? I always thought everybody bought the game first. Then they bought the sets if they were lucky. 2. So why did you say, "Oh look, let's reserve this game!" followed by "Oh man, I can't wait! I wanna play it noooooow!" 4. Lol, synaptic.
STUDZ
Well, I can't answer most of the questions above, but I CAN tell you why I'm on RRU: As I've said before: Rock Raiders United.org has potential. If Cyrem could create a fansite of a theme that died almost ten years before, and keep it alive, anyone can. I mean, do you ever see a fansite for LEGO Batman: The Videogame? Or LEGO Star Wars?? Or even LEGO Island, for that matter? No. As far as I can tell, Cyrem has made the FIRST thriving LEGO Videogame Fansite. The game is just a stepping stone for better things. In my opinion, LRR was a great game, from LEGO that is. In fact, other than the LEGO Island games, my fave LEGO game is LRR. Well, that's more or less my input on LRR. Sadie Meowsalot
1. It's a rather old game, a way of staying in the past, and not conforming to these "New" games. 2. I had enjoyed playing with the "Rock Raiders" Legos before hand. 3. It was quite "Fun", if you will. 4. I do play other games aswell, though I still enjoy RR, for the memories it had gifted me with. 5. I suppose to better enhance, and customise the gamng expirience. 6. It is of great importance to preserve the past, without it we would not learn how to better our lives in the present, and future.
