Right, I upgraded my RAM today and now I need a x1 slot gaming card, any recommendations. NOTE: It MUST be a 512mb or above.

EDIT 1: You guys think a 8400gs is good enough? I'm considering it since I am seeing good videos of it on Crysis and BO

Hi, you can call me an hardware expert lol, but what do you have PCI EXPRESS 2.0? 1.0 for crysis you need an High-End Grahpics card but i think you should go with the 9000 series of nvidia 8600 is verry old if i where you i should not buy it!

But give me some more details about your system and what you wan't to do.

I recently opened up my computer and installed some 2 gigs of Corsair RAM, then I noticed I had a PCI x1 slot, which is not what I want as I was thinking of fitting a 9800gt

Karsten I'm talking about this

Sorry to say that but your power supply is to low you need like a 450Watt power supply for that Graphics card and they are not that expensive annymore ;)

Meh, dont care much, just need its dedicated memory, I recall Acmex being able to run a GTX 460 without the right power system.

But when you GPU is under load it usses more power so on full load or half load with not enough power left you can get a BSOD so your system fails.

It is not smart that your power-supply can't handle it!

When you say X1, do you mean a PCI-E 1x slot, which is only a single width PCI slot, or do you mean first generation PCI-E?

There is no such thing as a graphics card for a single width slot, you need a PCI-E 16X slot to use just about any graphics card.

Also, on the subject of my GFX-Card and PSU combo, it's not smart. I know it.

Technically, I can handle the power, but I'm severely pushing the amps I have, which is worse than pushing the wattage, but I don't usually sit for hours on end playing crysis or do HD renders. I'll be fine for now.

In addition to that, I think the card knows it can't get the power and underclocks itself to keep that form happening.

EDIT: Upon looking at the specs again, it says it supports PCI-E 16x, but I see no physical slot for it. Quite frankly, I see what could be the slot, but without the connector for it. This is why I hate computers made by major companies.

I think he means a PCI E x2 and that he only has 1 slot availble

Go with a 9800 GT if you can. It OWNS, and doesn't eat a ton of power.

But 180Watt is not enough to feed it
