RockmoddeR
I have noticed over the past few days that ever since I ran LRR in windowed mode once by clicking the .exe inside the file folder, (not the desktop shortcut) the game runs fine. However, when I try to run it using the desktop shortcut it starts, gets about 5/8ths through the loading process and then dies unexpectedly. I think this may have something to do with the parameters ( I'm using -best, -programmer and -testlevels) OR the video mode required by the shortcut. Input, and testing of the matter would be much appreciated. NOTE: I can run the game fine, it has to do with the shortcuts. UPDATE: Apparently the type of .exe parameter doesn't matter, but if I put more than 2 on at once it crashes ^_^
Aki Dazrold
This happens to me running with NO parameters. I just said screw it and ran in the "long" way. That being said, I made a shortcut to the folder it's in and gave that shortcut the RR icon. Meh, works for me.

Probably an error on your part, since I have countless parameters and yet it works perfectly. You could try "manually" creating a shortcut to the exe, throwing all the parameters you want into it, then starting RR like that...
RockmoddeR
Since it's not just me, I think there really may be something up that we have overlooked. I'm going to try the manual shortcut, and maybe even a shortcut to the shortcut as an experiment.
Addictgamer
Since it's not just me Wait, what'd I miss? I never had this problem. Did I accidentally say I did? Did I overlook somebody saying they did? Great, now I'm lost...
RockmoddeR
Look a few posts higher. LZ stated he can't even use the desktop shortcut.
Addictgamer
Oh. I somehow misread his post. Well, how did the experiment go?
RockmoddeR
Very interesting. Self-creating the shortcut returns no bugs or crashes.

That works too mans. I mean I'm not going to do it that way because I'm weird like that but hey.
RockmoddeR
At least we have a solution. What I created this topic for is to bring the subject into the light, I think it could affect other things, or have more useful implications. The unknown cause, rather than the effect, being the focus.
