Goob
REMEMBER THESE SPECS: Petrol: High horsepower (speed of engine). Good torque (pull) Diesel: Low HP. Fantastic torque (and a beautiful sound of engine. I can run on french fries, your coffee, your soda, your feces, your fish, your dead fish, your fish that just won't die, and your money.) Alcohol: Dangerously high HP. Low torque. (smelly, very loud) Steam: Very low HP. Dangerously high torque. (multiple engine components; complex power distribution) Propane: Good HP. Good torque. (WEEEEEE! Look at me ma, I'm driving in the living room!) Kerosene: Jet engine. You better know the specs on that one. Methane: High HP. Low torque. (I heat your house) Gas/Oil 2 stroke: Low HP. Low torque. (I hate this engine. If you vote this, you are a communist) Turboshaft: High HP. High torque. (Ask TMLC about this one )
Tracker
Turboshaft- can be made from a turbocharger and like all gas turbines, and be easily made to run on any flammable fluid (gasses, liquids), even coal dust. Can have an extremely high power to weight ratio but has the worst fuel economy of all internal combustion engines which is why TMLC uses decay heat as a power source. Another challange is startup. But one of the better aspects of these power plants is that they need only one moving part, the bad news is that part spins quickly enough to destroy most bearings in minutes and tends to be very dangerous if it break apart. Axial engines have the better economy and power, but are not very robust, often breaking up when something get ingested. Their rotors use individual blades made from a single grain (crystal) of a high strength, high melting point alloy, so that may not be an option for you. Radial engines, however, can be made from a turbocharger, which should not be way out of your price range. If done properly, it should give you enough power replace the engine of a side by side ATV. You may be able to improve it with a second turbocharger to aid in compression. A two stroke is not that bad in power to weight ratio.
ftgsarge
Here's how I would do it. Take a working truck, strip the body, reapply metal to make it LOOK like a transport truck. Happy welding!
Minifig9292
There's no miniature nuclear isotope in the fuel options. It's what I would use.

Cyrem
You should change the first one "Gas" to it's full name. Because here 'Gas' means LPG and Gasoline is called "Petrol". Just thought I'd clear up that point. Sounds like an awesome project. Also what about a 4 stroke engine?
Pyro
I thought this was gonna be a real vehicle that looked just a little like a transport truck, but this is a lot more awesome. I think a small digger would make more sense, though, because it's more typical. And you could put actual chainsaws on the front :o

The 2 stroke is just what you have in your chinese mini-bike that only lasted 13 days. Cirevam
Oh. All the engines are 4 stroke. The 2 stroke is just what you have in your chinese mini-bike that only lasted 13 days. Most lawnmowers or other small yard equipment use two-stroke engines. Don't knock it just because someone made a crap product with it. Plus, there are real-life Small Transport Trucks roaming my campus. They're John Deere Gator 4x2, I think.

But the thing with the 2 strokes is that they are mainly for things that don't have a throttle (weedwackers, small push mowers, snowthrowers, leafblowers). The German Trabants have 2 strokes, but they didn't like to accelerate very well. Honestly, I just put that up there for comic relief.
