Plans For A New Mod

This is the first time I've created a productive topic in a long time!

I have decided to turn over a new leaf on RRU. I said alot of things that should have never been said and hurt alot of people's feelings and/or ways of thinking. It finally hit me today that the reason that I'm only finding negativity in this place is that I never do anything productive around here. I want to create a mod for LRR that will hopefully renew my spirit in this forum. My plans for a mod will mainly introduce a few CFG modifications. All the levels will be the same but I will add new stuff to the game. I have a huge chunk of this new mod cut out for me on my old PC (oh this will be fun resurrecting that monster) that adds features that were in the beta of the game. I want to leave it as a simple CFG mod and not add anything to any files.

I already added:

  • Mobile teleport just teleports
  • Tool store just holds tools
  • tunnel transport (not fixed)
  • No more stupid sandwiches!
  • raiders, as they level up, are able to run faster and drill walls a bit faster. Last level raider can drill hard rock but it takes about a minute for him to do it.
  • Bats don't scare, but they do attack and reduce raider's health a bit
  • Laser cutters are more usefull for taking out seams
  • Higher level raiders aren't afraid of monsters
  • Fixed some icons that were derped in the construction menu
  • Changed build order of buildings to make for a more "interesting" gameplay
  • To go with latter mentioned modification, changed ore/crystal requirements for a few buildings (fore example, power station needs no crystals but the teleport pad will take 2 crystls instead)

Should be it. I will create some graphics for the game and maybe a banner :af:

From what you've described it seems like you're making an "improved gameplay/new strategies" minihaul. That would be refreshing to play, I'd think.

Oh it is! only problem is that I can't add new stuff so I'll have to work with what I can to do interesting stuff ;)

It's my birthday? o.0 Well, today is special because Portal 2 was released and now I must download it :D

Blar the stupid NTSC. Mac can read NTSC but cannot grab stuff out of it. I'll have to figure out some other way to pull it out of that hard drive. I have an old PC under my desk I could try, but it's a FAT operating system so it too won't be able to read NTSC. Gawsh I love windows...

Oh blargh, I might have to postpone work on this mod until I find some way to get that data off the hard drive. It's a NTSF HDD meaning I can't plug it into any of my macs. (none of my macs have that type of HDD port. They're all mac minis or iMac G3s. I also have a laptop but that uses FAT 32.)

In the meantime I might work on a surprise project. If I get RR of of that hard drive I'll stop working on this "surprise" project and throw it out to you guys to play with.

Ok. I'll be waiting for that surprise project then.

About that surprise

The last time I had a surprise it was fake. I feel bad about it. This surprise won't be tragic like the last one. It will be a real surprise, with tragic consequences.

So you're going to give us a resonance cascade? I'll be waiting for that surprise, no matter what it may be, Missssster Pettit.

If, by NTSF, you meant NTFS, you were wrong. Mac OS X supports NTFS as well as FAT, and your laptop does too (unless it uses windows ME or older LOL).

NTFS and FAT are simply the formats of the data on the disk, the connectors are probably SATA. You can get SATA-USB adaptors (which would work, though the data rate would probably be quite slow), then plug it into any of your computers.

The laptop is DOS. You have problem, mouse :af:

But I said already that none of my computers use the SATA Parallel ATA hookup. The hard drive is out of my custom PC that blew up (smoke was pouring out of it).

Install ubuntu, or if the laptop is too crappy, xubuntu (or just run it off a CD if you don't want to keep it). Copy files to a different computer. Problem solved.

You were talking about NTFS. So I won't say "my bad" here.
