Sweater.Kittens
Hey there, so I was feeling down for a little nostalgia whilst waiting for my bros to come over to play Saints Row 2, so I decided to reinstall this baller game (as I remember it). Initially I had the missing .dll problem that everyone seems to encounter, but downloaded the .dll and fixed that easy. The real problem comes in when I actually start playing the game. It runs (no problem) and even gets into missions, just as soon as the instructions make the camera move, everything goes black, although I still get sound, and I can still see the rest of the HUD, such as all the tools and map controls. For example, on the first mission, it goes black as soon as the instructions start talking about your rock raider moving through rubble. In the vehicle driving tutorial, it goes black as soon as it wants you to move the vehicle. It's the same problem that this guy was having. Except everyone responding was too busy giving him crap for having a mac instead of actually trying to help the problem, so that wasn't really any help. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit, I've got 4gigs of ram and a GeForce 8600gtm graphics card. And it's a PC, not a mac, so while they came to the conclusion that the problem was mac-based in the earlier thread, obviously it wasn't. I've tried compatibily modes all the way from Windows 95 to Windows Xp and everything in between, I've tried running in 256 colors, as well as trying all the different options available in CLGen.exe. Please let me know if you know what I can do to fix this, I'm really jones'n to play this. *Also, a side note, I installed the game from an .iso and it runs without the .iso being mounted. I did not apply any external patches or cracks, it's just always worked without the .iso being mounted* Thanks thanks, Sweater
Addictgamer
This has happened to me before. There was an error in an NPL for a custom level of mine. Since you're obviously using vanilla RR, that can't be the problem. Again, as I tell everybody...If it's graphics card/driver related, the following might do something: Play around with the options in clglen.exe. Additionally, run LegoRR.exe directly: Play around with the RGB and Direct3D options in combination with clglen.exe's options.
TheDoctor
You know, I honestly think that the more current your system is, the less likely that LRR will run properly. This reminds me of the issue with one of the Lego racers games. You couldn't install it if you had more than 2GB of ram in your system. This really doesn't have anything to do with LRR, but still. It's worth noting that all CLGen does is add parameters to the game launch. See my Parameter Manager in the downloads section. Another thing. RGB Emulation has never worked for me at all. Either it crashes or it's really laggy and terrible and all things undesirable. The problem might be that since it's running from the iso (or whatever) and hasn't been installed right, some things that get set up during the installation aren't set up right, and this may be a consequence of that. PS: we gave the guy crap about his mac because you just can't run LRR on unix based systems. It's just impossible. Anonymous tried once, and he didn't get very far. It's just not going to happen. Edit: You'll only see the screen addict posted if you run the game without the -best option. Just use the ParameterManager and see if that doesn't help anything. Edit 2: Also try extracting the iso (with 7zip of course) and running it like that.

Sweater.Kittens
Hey guys, First, thanks for the quick response. Usually asking for help on forums you tend not to get a response for at least a week. So I tried the Parameter manager, and although it didn't help my problem, it's an awesome tool. I tried fooling around with CLGen and all that, and no dice either. However, I found that if I just avoid the training missions, and jump right into the actual campaign missions, I don't have a problem. I think it originates from the game trying to control the camera during the tutorials. Again, thanks for the quick response, and although i haven't fixed my problem, I've found a way around it for now! My bros are gonna have to wait for me to finish this before we get to play Saints Row again! Cheers, Sweater.Kittens

Actually, I've had black screens from messing around with the camera too...Why in the world would it happen to vanilla LRR is beyond me. Oh well, have fun playing RR! Cyrem
Ok. I have an a 50/50 solution. It worked for another guy ages ago, It may work for you. Try running in windowed mode: http://www.rockraidersunited.org/index.php?/topic/128-run-lego-rock-raiders-in-windowed-mode/ Down side is, if it works you only have a small window to play in. I was literally going to suggest this very thing after reading the opening post, and then I saw that you had already figured it out. D'oh. Edit: also inb4ya hit the rescue missions
