ftgsarge
Bicker about it below. Accept it. If this work well enough we can have topological data.
McJobless
I dunno...looks kinda skeptical to me...maybe it was used as reference, but they didn't exactly copy and paste...
Cyrem
Yeah, it's definitely not a copy.
Lair
Planet U has water vapor clouds So Planet U has a lot of Iron in its surface, like Mars, and has/had volcanic eruptions (like Mars but ongoing). The images from RfS looks like one of the darker brown spots. Yes, it's like a giant Mars with an antmosphere and a civilization below it... Sonic322
They look similar but that is about it.
Baz
I'm fairly sure they used the martian surface as a texture and then modified it a bit with clouds, took out the icecaps, and the like. This is a better picture of mars to compare to (might even be the face they used). But whatever, as far as canon goes, which is what matters here, it's not mars. The image of the surface doesn't really resemble Mars at all, nor does anything else in the canon about Planet U.
Minifig9292
Reposting comment: They used a photograph of mars for the texture of the model. Big deal. >_>
Lair
They didn't use a photograph of Mars exactly. Based the surface features on would be better. Planet U seems unusually orange in that picture anyways, while it looked more tan on other spots of the game.
Croza
Planet U is fairly cavernous, and Mars was thought to not have a solid core until fairly recently, it was thought to have huge caverns of crystals under it's surface, perhaps that's one similarity? Sonic322
What about the extended intro? That shows to surface of Planet U.
