Minifig9292
Think about it, many small time forums like us die out. I found a forum during a random google search about 20 pages in: http://s13.zetaboards.com/sprites_r_us/index/ It's strange to see these conversations preserved like that, forever there until the domain is lost. In around 7-8 years I bet someone will say the same about us. What we do here seems so important, yet in reality, it means nothing. Thoughts? McJobless
*prepares doctor cox voice* WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG, WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG. YOU'RE WRONG. YOU'RE WRONG. *cuts it out* In short, RRU is WAY bigger...that site has a WHOOPING 47 members! And an even BIGGER 1608 posts! Seriously, RRU is gonna live forever. Or I'm going to play that song from the real transformers movie...
Oboe Shoes
Well, I've lived through a couple unfortunate forum deaths, (including the one where i first used "Oboe Shoes" 6 or 7 years ago... ) but more often than not, it has something to do with the forum being abondoned by the admins, or it getting overrun by crap due to lack of moderation, not just general lack-of-interest. Cyrem
Think about it, many small time forums like us die out. Depends if they have purpose. I found a forum during a random google search about 20 pages in: http://s13.zetaboards.com/sprites_r_us/index/ It's strange to see these conversations preserved like that, forever there until the domain is lost. RRU can't even be compared to that. RRU is leaps and bounds in-front of that. What we do here seems so important, yet in reality, it means nothing. RRU has the most documentation on the RR theme in the entire internet. That means more than nothing. And should the forum ever die, the wiki will remain. Cirevam
What we do here seems so important, yet in reality, it means nothing. One could say that about life in general. If we screw up and cause the human race to go extinct, there will be nothing left except for a thin layer of plastics in the strata of the earth that may be found by other forms of intelligent life, unless our sun goes supernova before then. On a larger scale, we're barely a speck in the universe. Does anything we do matter to the universe? No, but yet we continue. We'll continue to exist, to live, and to mod Rock Raiders. If not for ourselves, then to show the universe that what we're doing means something to someone out there.
Tracker
Sprite Shop Jul 1 2011, 10:50 PM, By LestatTheHedgehog Still alive. Yesterday, 5:30 PM, By Guest Very much so. REad forum problems, looks like spritesrus is just a roaming forum, not a dead one. I think you need a new Example. One closer in size to us. Mine said last post was in 2006. Also, guys, don't get defensive, I'm not saying RRU is crap or anything. We're thinking on utterly different levels here. I'm saying we are a tier 2 forum, what this means is that we will die out EVENTUALY and we will end up pretty much like that. Okay? Places like Facepunch or 4chan, is a tier 1. Huge, tens of thousands of members, won't die for a very very long time, possibly never. We are a tier 2, medium sized, will die out with a whimper in a few years and some will be sad. Tier 3 was kinda of what I showed, not many members, dies out and no one notices.
Tracker
I Forge Iron has ~10000 members, so it is on the border I presume. It will likely die from computers dying, not the trade, so I guess it is Tier 1.
Lair
We are a tier 2, medium sized, will die out with a whimper in a few years and some will be sad. What if we expand out to mod other games? Oh wait, we are. Stop trying to make RRU look worthless, ok?
Tauka Usanake
I kind of agree with Katatonic, but not that we are completely doomed. I'd argue that at least half the total members in here take enough part in the forum to stand out making an actual member of them, good example being all the people no one likes in here. About half of that group, give or take some, understand programming and modding of any given game around here. About 3/4 of that group has really made any headway in modding and only Addict (as far as I am aware of, please correct me if wrong) is really working hard at his stuff. This forum has that Newgrounds feel to it, minus the Newgrounds of course , and with it, the feel that you have to do something along with or for the community. I'm not saying that it truely is nessesary though. It just has that feel to it and to some point may lead to a slight downfall if the forum requires new members. Sonic322
I think RRU will be here long enough to finish all of the ORRs and a few more overhauls. Then perhaps we could get the rights to LRR and the source code.

STUDZ
Well; this would be a good place to advertise my slowly dying forums: HEY, PEOPLE! BEFORE IT DIES OUT, VISIT THE INFOMANIAC'S CLASSROOM! We're more than a LEGO Island fansite; WE'VE GOT THE CREATOR OF LI ON THERE! Sorry for the ad, Cyrem. I don't expect anyone to abandon RRU for my and Segatendo's site. Not even I visit it as often as RRU. No, I think that RRU will be around for a VERY long time. And if Cyrem abandons the site... Well, I would be willing to take care of it. Tauka Usanake
The best way to keep this site alive is to keep expanding LRR to different areas. The spirit of the game is what really matters. ORR and overhauls are just part of it. However I can't see what other ways there are to expand it to anything else short of mods in different games, and to find right games for that is hard in itself. I'm not saying that we have to though, but any and all ways of keeping Rock Raiders alive. And fcsk the rights to LRR. LEGO will never give them out because it's theirs and an idea that profited them. They don't care if it's old or possibly dead, (save for RRU) only that there is still profit in it but they aren't going to try to lose any to gain some. Nishliau
I've left dozens and dozens of times. Every time I come back, I'm welcomed with open arms (In the internet kinda way I guess) back. I love this forum, and I love the people that populate it. This forum will prosper for many years to come.
