Phoenyx
I've been messing around in LDD and I'd like to show my current masterpiece. The Challenger X is an FTL capable colony vessel with a transport capacity of over 4,000 people. A real life version of this ship would measure out at over five miles long. The model was made to scale with the Mini Star Destroyer from the LEGO Star Wars line. As you can see it's quite large for a "mini". The ship is armed for self defense with about 200 heavy railgun batteries (too small to be seen on the model), 50 super-heavy railgun batteries (still too small), and a numerous amount of lighter point defense weapons. In addition, it can carry either 500 F-302 Liberty Glider Fighters (It cannot carry the FTL capable X-302 due to support requirements) 250 FA-120 Meteor Heavy Fighters 200 Firefly Class Light Freighters 5 Defender Class Escorts 2 BC-304 Daedalus Class Light Cruiser-Carriers 2 Stellar Guardian Class Light Cruisers 1 X-303 Promethius Class Cruiser Or any combination of the above. At FTL it is capable of either 0.5 PpH (Parsecs per Hour) using its Hyperdrive or a range of 1,000,000 light-years with its retrofitted Keyhole Drive, though within interstellar space it is limited to 50 light-years. At STL it can accelerate at up to 15 Gs. Due to its extreme acceleration, the Challenger X is equipped with inertial dampeners. As the Challenger X's Keyhole Drive leaves a large unstable wormhole in its wake, it cannot be used within a planet's gravitational well, otherwise anything in orbit could end up lost in an unknown location. This vortex of energy lasts for around five minutes and is unique to the Challenger X due to its unusually large size.
McJobless
That thing is freakin' scary man. Whats even more crazy is the fact you've got all the research together, and you have all kinds of values and information listed...you could make an entire wiki with the info you have... Very nice work. BTW, are the coloured bricks up the top meant to flash like Police Lights?
Phoenyx
Actually, they are Port and Starboard orientation lights and are kept on without flashing. Both aircraft and watercraft are required to have these, so I thought I would extend that requirement to my starship designs. I actually have names for five other ships of this class, all named after the different space shuttles (there were a total of six but Enterprise was an atmospheric test orbiter and was never used. It can be seen at the National Air and Space Museum's Udvar-Hazy Center). The Challenger X class ships: Challenger X Enterprise X Columbia X Atlantis X Discovery X Endeavor X I may post models of each of these, with slight differences in each version. Phoenyx
I know I posted before, but I have a lot to add to the thread and a simple edit wouldn't be visible enough. This is the Columbia X, a slight improvement over the pre-retrofit Challenger X. The Hyperdrive on this ship is capable of 2 PpH due to extensive upgrades, although it sacrifices some vehicular carrying capacity due to its larger Tokomak reactors. Since the overdriven hyperdrive produces a huge amount of heat, radiator fins have been added. This ship was decommissioned before the discovery and reverse engineering of the Atlantian keyhole drive.
apemax
Great ships 40kEndraider. Really good design and information. Well done. :)
Phoenyx
Thanks. I may actually use these in a fan fiction later, and there are four more ships to build (they're based off of the same base model but with slight differences in the details).
