Blender Crash

When ever I try to start blender a windowed screen appears that's black and has nothing in it.If you have any ideas why it won't work please comment.

Has any other version of blender work on that computer? Or is this the first time you have tried blender? I have 2.57 installed... I'll install the latest version and see if it does that with me.

What is OpenGL?How do I figure that out?

OpenGL is an open source graphics library, (DirectX is closed source), but it's probably not that. I would say python, but I doubt its that either. Blender ships with precompiled libs, so I doubt that's the problem. Run the Blender exe from command line (cmd) and see if it gives you an error message. Also make sure you have the right architecture for your computer (32bit or 64bit).

You can still get an SDK and make DirectX programs, though. Well, at least you can for DirectX 9...

And yeah, check his program is using the right bit program. I had to help him try figure out and I think he may have the wrong one...

Actually the window does say something:

ndof : dead zone set to 0.10

Info: Config directory with "starup.blend" file not found.

This is what the window says word for word.
