ok i googled thsi for a time so long you wouldn't believe it.

its a long time since i played rock raiders and the last time was on xp.

so i get an error can't find drdrm.dll i downloaded it .

i run it in compatibility mode for 2000 but when i start it i just get a solid black screen, i read a lot and they say you just need to disable the avi's.

the problem is : how the heck do you do this i read a lot of cfg and stuff but can someone give me an easy step for step plan to fix this problem?

(im running on windows 7 64bit and srry for my bad english)

Don't run it in compatability mode? Honestly I've never seen this issue before. Also it works perfectly on every computer I've ever used it on from 98 to 7.

i read on a couple of other treads that you need to make a change in the cfg where do you find this file?

to disable the avi files beceause when i just delete them i get a picture for a couple of seconds.

http://www.rockraide...__fromsearch__1 ive got the same problem as that guy

The avi files ''were'' incompatable with newer computers (the newest computer in our house has broken this rule now :af: ), but I don't see how that is a problem since it plays audio and then goes to the game.

If you really need to skip them get the cfg out of the wads.

thats my problem it will work without 1 avi file: imi 640 so i just need to disable the avi can you just give a more detailed location of the cfg file beceause i can't find it

oh en whe'n i just delete that file you get the first image and the it just turns off and i don't get sounds or nothing with the avi

The CFG is in one of the WAD files. You will need a WAD tool to access it.

Be careful, the game's main code is stuffed into only two files - the the hard coded EXE for the engine (no need to edit it), and the CFG which contains all the basic game rules. Editing something in there that you don't know about will change things in unexpected ways or even cause a crash.

A lot of mods are actually simple edits of the CFG, so once you figure out what everything is you can go ahead and start modding.

i made a new thread named cfg file in the help section so this isn't really a problem anymore but thx anyway
