PTGigi
Hello there! Recently I installed LEGO Rock Raiders on my new computer. I was able to find a download for the game that works with Windows 7 (seeing as I've lost the installation disc for the 98 version). But as of today it won't go beyond the main menu! I've set it to run in Compatibility mode (Windows 98/ME) and it has been working perfectly fine for more than a week! I can't find anything that may have caused this besides Norton updating its Intrusive Protection (which I disabled, attempted to run the game, and it still failed to work). Also, between the time the game was working fine and stopped working, FireFox had sort of a "hiccup" (?). It froze and won't work until I restarted my computer. I don't know the cause of that issue though. The game comes up fine, the loading menu comes up fine. But when the bar gets to about 99-100% it just stops and won't move. I even deleted and re-downloaded the game files (keeping my saves on my desktop) but that didn't work either. Does anyone have any solutions? I can provide more information if needed. I'm certain this is not an issue with me running a 98 game on Windows 7 seeing as it has been working thus far.
Cirevam
Have you done any modding? I can't imagine what else would cause your game to crap out as soon as it loaded all of the files.
PTGigi
No modding what-so ever. EDIT: Well I disabled Norton and tried to run the game. Still getting an issue so I know Norton is not the problem...Gah I'll try redownloading it again.
Tracker
We deleted a bunch of stuff and soon afterwords the setup for LDD started without prompt. The setup was killed too quickly to determine if was an older version (1.6 anyone?), if it was, it could be a backdoor in the software allowing someone to get past the firewall and screw things up. If it wasn't, then something similar could have happened to make the system hang. It took Microsoft, what was it, six years to plug the really large holes in XP. I expect something similar with 7. Sadly, unless you crack (illegally hack) some of the software involved, or get an older computer, you are stuck with Windows 7 as it is the only thing that LRR even tolerates these days. The heck? LRR runs fine on any Windows OS. And that whole post contributed almost nothing useful to this.
PTGigi
Sorry Tracker, but my brain doesn't work 100% after 12AM. What was that you just said? I'm having a hard time deciphering your post ...you are stuck with Windows 7 as it is the only thing that LRR even tolerates these days.I have Windows 7. It was running fine up until earlier today And, to add to my list of stuff I've tried, I attempted a System Restore to several days ago (apparently the 21st was the earliest I could restore to) but even that failed D:
