elrunethe2nd
I probably should update this. I haven't done any work recently since most of the modelling is done and I've been too busy to dump time into animation, however there's all the finalization for models I've completed which is done. (whoops I slipped) Edited May 2, 2016 by elrunethe2nd Replacing broken images. Cirevam, lol username and Lair

elrunethe2nd
THAT POWER MINERS DRILL I love it. I want it. YES. I did too. I think it's a sexy full sized drill in a scale that just says "serious business". It's a pity I haven't found a vehicle I like it attached to that also says "serious business" quite yet. elrunethe2nd
Drill tanks come to mind. They do, yes. I liked the notion of a giant rolling drill/slug that the Thunder Driller (?) evoked. I just can't reconcile the giant curved sections of Lego with classic Lego styling. And I can't replace it without it looking too heavy and losing Lego's trademark efficiency, although that may be a comment on my ability to visualize rather than an issue with the design. If you think your drill-bot is manly enough to pierce the heavens with that drill, you're welcome to try.https://www.box.com/s/fjzu9hu41uhg4nrfgewc - .obj Sorry, it's not particularly optimized or well grouped. Should be easy with a good model editor, though.

I do like the Lego styling, though. Good color use.

If you remove the image name from the URL it takes you to the whole folder. Go up a level and there are two other designs too.
elrunethe2nd
Woah, new forum look. I like it. I made a better Tool Store from scratch, as my previous one was actually pretty inaccurate, and thanks to my choice of modelling tool had a tonne of duplicate meshes lying around. I'm using Blender now. Attached is the new one, and the old one for comparison. (Yes, I forgot to texture the top of the yellow 1x4x0.3333 plate. It's fixed now.) -edit- Did the Teleport Pad as well. -edit- Did the Power Station also: -edit- Support Station: -edit- Finalized the Support Station & Power Station: ...and redid the Chrome Crusher: And some doodads: Edited September 28, 2015 by elrunethe2nd sheepandshepherd, The Ace Railgun, Jimbob and 3 others

elrunethe2nd
Can we talk about the docks? How do the two connected arms on top actually move around? It's not physically possible.. I've been working on a lot lately. Nothing I can talk about, though! But I decided to revisit the janky drill on the Chrome Crusher again. Also, studs. Edit: Also redid the Upgrade Station, since my original version was pretty much an original creation. I'm not sure how that happened, considering there are instructions on exactly how to make one in the RRHQ Lego set, but there you go. Edit: I updated the Tunnel Scout. It was pretty good, but now it's final. Interesting how many variations on this design are out there. And some tools: Edit: Redid this too. Edit: And this. The question is, use the game model or the Lego set? It's quite tall... Edit: Redid the tool store. I'm using Blender, and I work with a combination of the Mk.1 eyeball and screenshots of the game, and the instruction manuals for the Rock Raiders lego sets (eg: here). These are renders in Blender. I'm not sure whether I should preference official Lego set design over the game. Edit: Hover Scout done. Useless though it is. Edited April 24, 2016 by elrunethe2nd Hover Scout! elrunethe2nd
Finished the Tunnel Transport. This is the third time I've modeled one and I am getting exceedingly tired of making it because of the number of bricks. New hotness shown next to old and busted for comparison. ch4rl1e97
These are incredibly good, not only the modelling but the rendering and texturing too, Can't wait to see some of these moving! Where is the tunnel transport actually used in the game though?

In the PS1 version(s) it's used more, it can transport smaller vehicles and lands on big landing pad things IIRC. Nice looking models, dude. I believe it's in Frozen Frenzy, and also I think it might pick you and your vehicle up in that solo Rock Raider escort mission? You also see it once in a pre-rendered cutscene roughly mid-game. I'm not sure why I made it in retrospect, given I don't really need it that badly.. On 4/26/2016 at 7:54 AM, Terrev said: In the PC game it only appears briefly at the end of the level Frozen Frenzy.
