Metric system is 300 years old.

Best system in the world.

Based on tens.

It's lengths were determined scientifically, not by the kings foot.

I get off from school today, teachers are having a teacher work day. (thought they only happened in grade school)

To get everyone to understand math, they take the level down, instead of training the pupils.

LOL not measured by the kings foot... heh.

1 km is 10 hm is 100 dam is 1000 m is 10000 dm is 100000 cm is 1000000 mm....

You can even go further since they implemented Greek prefixes.

I don't know how you guys do it in the USA, but the metric system is the officially used system by physicians.

I find the Imperial system scary. VERY scary.

Next vacation is somewhere in the middle of December, I think. After that another 3 months of school and a vacation around Easter, and then again summervacation. The vacations in December and April are 2 weeks; summervacation is 6 weeks.

Self-study? To know when to put an umlaut over a vowel?

PSSHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWW.

Actually learning a language on your own is majorly cool. Requires high Knowledge and Diligence, with some Understanding too. I'm thinking about studying abroad in Germany, and I've already taken a year of intro German, mainly to fulfill the language requirement.

I think learning German is really nothing special. A lot of people are taught German in school. Why not try something like Chinese, Japanese or French?

Ugh. I tried Chinese once. Not the right thing for me, no way...

But I'm well on the way to becoming trilingual, what with my EPIC FRENCH SKILLZ :P...

And French is taught in most secondary schools in England, COMPULSORILY for two years.

If I understood correctly out of the information books of a school in the Netherlands, you get 2 years of French and 2 years of German and after that you must choose one of them.

As being in Suriname I only get Spanish.
