what we need to do if we want to bring lrr into high techness is get a hold of the latest gods engine.

http://www.ddi-games.com/

this is all data design did in the game. im sure thier new engine is based roughly off the older versions so if we could get somehow get that then we would all be set. that is the hard part though. the new engine that they made looks pretty good for a wii engine.

i know it would be nearly impossible to get but im just saying it would be cool if we could get the engine.

it does look like they are only building the engine for the wii though, bummer, what a waste.

btw if i posted this in the wrong place im sorry i was in a hurry

Well, we would also need the rr source. So, its useless.

I don't think ddi or lego even has the source anymore.

well lego wrote the source and used ddi engine

Lego didn't write the game, DDI did. Lego Just owns all the copyrights.

All I know is that we could by the rights to LEGO RockRaiders, if we had the right amount of money!

Never going to happen. If in a dream we did get the rights to it we'd still need the GODS engine which we will never get because it's DDI's own game engine. They won't give it or sell it.

They have the source. They will not throw it away.

Game modding is a grey area. Most game companies allow it so long as it does not damage the game or their profits as modding promotes their game and extends it's life.

couldent we get a cheap, knock off version of it? And analysis it and poke it and...touch...it?

Again, we will NOT get the GODS engine because it is DDI's. They created it and it is their income. Without their engine they are nothing. If they give or sell their engine they are throwing away money. Any game company would be stupid to do such a thing unless they were completely selling their business.

Well, one of us could work at DDI, rise up the corporate ladder, and make the older versions of the engine open source.

...or we could be lame realistic and just mod it the way we already do...

Now that it's been rezzed, I might as well throw in this comment

so we just have to wait till DDI gose out off business...how long will that take?

(LOL)

I don't actually think it'll take too long unless DDI get their butts off the ground and start working on better stuff. Google "Ninjabread Man" and read about it. 'nuff said

btw, thanks to cirevam for showing me that game :P

I'm sure that DDI would give out the old source code, even for a small price. RR was made many years ago, and their engine has been updated a lot since then. Has anyone asked DDI yet?

Nope, they can't because LEGO are proprietary bastards. >_>

The only way for us to get the GODS engine would be a perfect storm of DDI starting a C++ teaching program, a series of lawsuits agenest Lego causing a liquidation of their company, putting the source up for auction. And Cyrem finding a rare/expensive coin in his backyard.
